New ones - charged people when they got their water connection put in.

Old ones - did it back when councils were doing the work themselves and before 2-3 layers of contracting started to make things so expensive.

Can also get done when other work is being done. Family property in Taupo had a leak around the toby at Xmas. Contractor replaced the toby with one that included a water meter.

Good or bad time to be under anesthesia?

This was from 2016, but for some reason recently posted.

It was a Japanese M7.3 magnitude. The video shows violent horizontal movement, with wheeled operating equipment being thrown around and people struggling to remain upright.

The mainshock was shallow and produced JMA intensity 7 locally. Japan's intensity 7 is an extremely severe level of shaking: "buildings can suffer major structural damage and people generally have great difficulty standing or moving normally."

That reminds me... I wonder what inspires people to lie on the Geonet "felt reports". There was a 4.1 earthquake up East Cape this morning, and here in Whakatane I felt it, but it was light enough for me to wonder whether it was an actual quake or just my imagination.

Meanwhile someone in Otago claims to have felt it.

Meanwhile someone in Otago claims to have felt it.

There's a few serial "Extreme" reporters around the country. Moderate quake in Wellington, Extreme Shaking reported in Auckland and/or Dunedin.

This is one of the weirdest map colour schemes I've seen in my life. After staring at it for a while I realised that the pink bits are predominantly parks, although not every park is pink and not every pink bit is a park. The red bits are tertiary education institutions. The "Google Maps" tooltip is an artefact of my screenshot so you can at least ignore that.

So what's the purpose of the map? It's supposed to show where to buy popcorn.

It makes a fool of those of us who pay their bills on time. I would have sympathy if it was someone under financial stress but he's pretty clearly just a dickhead.

The last sale taken by the council was a North Shore home with an outstanding rates bill of more than $219,000.

Got a SMS from GP saying it's time for my blood tests. So I go to Awanui Labs and they find out I had two requests: one from GP (today) and one from the oncologist (last Friday).

Great, I can do both at the same time.

I asked to have the results from the oncologist request sent to my GP as well.

"We don't do this anymore. You can receive those via email and send to your GP yourself. Or ask the oncologist to do it."

WTF?

Touch wood it's been a few years since I've been to a specialist. I think I paid the lab for his tests. The solution was my GP requested the tests and indicated on the request that a copy went to the specialist. I'm surprised that the specialist wasn't specifying that the GP gets a copy. Once the boxes are ticked it's not as if someone has to do anything.

I didn't even talk to the oncologist or the GP. These are routine tests they request - the GP for overall health, the oncologist for status after the treatment last year.

But yeah, the oncologist team could just request copy to be sent to GP by default.

Netflix old marketing promotion for TV series Altered Carbon at CES 2018 is now being mistaken for a real company and real product because why else would Facebook keep deleting it?
