Geektastic: Reading this morning that the Japanese will have maglev Shinkansen by 2027 capable of 500kmh...!

Imagine the carnage that would occur if the Magnet failed! I guess you wouldn't have too long to think about it if it happened.

Impressive though!

Taking a train journey through some part of the world, in first class would rank pretty highly on my bucket list, along with spending time in Alaska both in Winter and Spring Summer. A Cruise in winter (though I hate boats, the scenery would be unbeatable) and exploring some of the less populated parts of nature, near rivers, perhaps seeing a bear and catching a Salmon, ideally not at the same time!

Apparently it has been in testing since 1997...! So hopefully it will be fine. The Shinkansen service began before I was born, just, and has carried 10 billion passengers so far.

Edit - imagine Wellington CBD to Auckland CBD in less than 90 minutes....!

That would be quicker than flying + airport transfer times.

You can have some fun with a USB powerbank and an ESP8266 set up to spam a few weird wifi names.

Started the first over-night 3D print jobs with the new printer ... and I'm curious of the results tomorrow morning.

I thought the CivIV theme song was pretty cool when the game came out but didn't realise it was award winning good:

Don't use these linux commands as it is - DON'T! If you call yourself an expert, recover it WITHOUT rebooting the system. :-)

...Getting home to find a Lime scooter at the end of the driveway, knowing I have some free credit and taking it for a blat around the neighbourhood, still dressed in a suit (straight from work), with the kids.
