In fairness, Southern America does kind of include South America, as a Southern part of the Americas...

Dune. Never read the books, or watched any previous film or TV versions. I was bored through the entire thing. I didn't find the "hero" at all captivating or interesting, and no other character got much development. Rebecca Ferguson's character provided a fair bit of exposition, and it didn't help that she spoke nearly all her lines in a quiet whisper and you couldn't make out 90% of what she was saying.
In theory, this is exactly the sort of movie I should like; but instead I was constantly checking my watch and it felt every bit as long as it's 155 minute runtime.
5/10
I'm currently watching Foundation on Apple TV+, and am enjoying that WAY more.
If you're enjoying Foundation more than Dune, then Dune must be bad. I am really struggling with Foundation, but I'll save the critique for the TV thread.
I watched Dune last night. Given the scope of the source material it is excellent.
Visually it's one of the best sci-fi movies I've ever watched. Villeneuve does this sort of film very well and the vertical scale in the film is quite inspiring.
I really enjoyed it, even if the last 45 minutes had some pace issues. I'm very pleased they green lit the sequel.
Visually I'd rate it 9.5/10, overall 8/10

May I ask where/how you watched this as I thought it wasn't going to be released till 02/12/2021 NZ.
I am great fan of this series of books by Frank Hubert and have the original Dune movie 1984 8/10
Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Army of Thieves on Netflix - the prequel to Army of the Dead.
Lots of fun, and almost felt like an older Guy Richie film.
Generally known online as OpenMedia, now working for Red Hat APAC as a Technology Evangelist and Portfolio Architect. Still playing with MythTV and digital media on the side.
For older movies types (those who like older movies, not the older watchers of movies, anyway, you know what I mean) watched Mister Roberts last night. Was there ever a more laid back actor than Henry Fonda ?

No need, since there's a team of moderators who are across all this stuff all the time anyway. Leave moderating to them.
I'm trying to wacth "Cosmic Sin" on Netflix ... oh god it is utter drivel! Bruce Willis must be short of cash or something.
I like bad movies, but this one just makes no sense at all, it's all over the place and seems to be missing huge bits of plot .. maybe the editor got carried away.

Halloween Kills. 4/10
Yeah pretty crap to be honest no real redeeming qualities at all.
Not even Jamie Lee Curtis or Will Patton could save this.
Watch if you must but don't expect it to rock your world.

The Harder they Fall [Netflix] Really enjoyed this . Influenced by Tarantino and although it is the basic plot of every Western made it still feels fresh and even the modern music fits.
8/10
Common sense is not as common as you think.
