Stores that have a publicly accessible email address listed on their site AND respond promptly to said emails.

It really stands out when it happens. I recently dealt with a place called Sparts NZ who do a wide range of spare parts for things and they replied to an inquiry on a weekend, provided detailed technical advice on what wasn't a terribly large (high-value) order for them, and shipped the same day. Wish more companies were like that.

Doesn't feel that hard, but a surprisingly small number of companies do it.

On Saturday I asked BNZ for info (the 2024 statement closing dates for my credit card) via secure message on their app. I expected a reply on a business day during the coming week - got a detailed reply with all the info within a couple of hours.

Saw proxmox running bare metal on an RPi 5-8GB yesterday.  Nevertheless, I would always prefer a 4-core low-end NUC. 🤭

Smiled at both of us adults each saying 'Good Morning Google' to the Nest Hub in various tones for the usual weather and radio etc and Google stubbornly refusing to respond. Everything updated and power cycled. Suddenly realised how much I rely on it for timers and that it’s been taken for granted so long.

Relieved that it’s now working again.

I asked my open source voice assistant what it was currently doing.

The answer was that it was making calculations for the Internet. I strongly suspect it's involved in a folding@home project or something similar. 😁

I'd love it if my HomePod Minis responded correctly to my commands, instead of just responding to a man on the telly saying "Hey Siri"

Mine's not as smart as yours (German) just asked and she told me she’s catching up on the days headlines and then made dog panting noises.

I had thought about testing one of these, but as it turned out beforehand, the Minis are a bit hard of hearing or obtuse. The big ones are supposed to be much better.

"He" only speaks English (so I have too) and when I asked „him“ how long he has existed, he gave me the start date of the open source project and a place of birth in the USA.

We are getting a manual sliding driveway gate. (4.5m Wide)

Warner price installed = almost $8000.00!!!!

Another Christchurch Company hasn't even replied! (Phone and Online Form!)

Ordered from Easygate in Tauranga.

Same plus loads of extras. (Over $700 of extras) Including freight $3500.00

Being Installed by a retired builder for less than $500.00

Now I know:

A: How Warner pay for all their Advertising!

B: They don't want the job!

Went to Specsavers to get my glasses replaced under insurance.

They still make my frames as they weren't that old, so I was able to have the eye test, get my prescription updated and get out after paying my excess in a very short time with no fuss, as they have everything on file, including the location of my pupils for the purposes of aligning the top/middle/bottom of the lenses (as I wear progressives). They'll add on all the coatings, treatments and everything else that my old glasses had and I'll have them on my face in 2 weeks.

Too easy.

Seeing a man riding in the cycle lane at a reasonable clip, with his young son riding beside him, the kid with a huge smile on his face, and the dad with his hand resting on the childs school bag gently as reassurance that the Dad was there and had his back.  It's nice to see some genuine happiness in the world.

Seeing Celine make an appearance at the Grammys. What a horrible illness she has been afflicted with.

I've been fortunate to see her performance live a number of times, but live in eternal hope, that even if she can't perform live again, she will still manage to release studio albums.
