American Crime Story: The people vs OJ Simpson. Excellent show and if it wasn't a true story would be just too bat-sh×t crazy to be to be a believable story.

What?! I love the Walking Dead!
Fear the Walking Dead is pretty meh though and has been from the start.
I knew Lucifer was going to be lame, and yep, it gets worse the longer it's on.
Also I'm over House of Cards. This season was a write off.

GoT will be back on soon.

But the finale .... it was obvious all day the RV was being herded and the ending reverted to the 'surrounded with no way out' formula.

It's like the writers have run out of ideas so they have veteran characters making rookie mistakes.

I've been itching for Negan to show up since Terminus. Last night's finale was everything I wanted as a comic reader, and more. It was perfection, and Negan - I was so worried leading up to this but the performance was excellent. I don't care about the fact that the victim isn't known, there's plenty of clues to lead to it being Darryl though. I can see how people who've only known the TV show would be disappointed but really for me this was an absolutely perfect intro to one of the greatest fictional villains of all time.

EDIT: Oh and why is no-one talking about the fact that Trevor from GTA5 was heavily featured in this episode! TREVOR!!!

I agree, the guy playing Negan did a great job. Shocking ending.

Edit: not happy about weird change in Carol and didn't buy it as a viewer. Too out of left field.

We watched the 1st episode of Mad Dogs whilst trialling Amazon Prime last night - hooked after the first episode! Weird, black comedy about I assume, the drug trade.

I have a few recent TV series that are worthy of mention:

"Trapped": an Icelandic-made murder mystery with English sub-titles. A huge winter storm cuts off a small town on the east coast of Iceland just as the torso of a dismembered body is found floating in the harbour. All hell breaks loose during the several days the town is isolated...and the local police chief - with a history that is hinted at - has to do the best he can. I loved this show. It's on BBC iPlayer of can be found by 'other means'. Make sure you see the sub-titled version and not the original, Icelandic-only version.

"The Bridge": A Swedish / Danish crime drama (3 series - 4th and last yet to come in 2018) set around the very long bridge that joins Copenhagen, Denmark to Malmo in Sweden. The protagonist is a Swedish female detective (Saga Noren) in her late 30s who has a very troubled past, a few big secrets.....and who is very much in the Aspergers spectrum. Blunt as an axe to the face, she is a 24/7 crime-solving machine barely harnessed by those around her. Yet she is fragile. She knows she's not normal. The crimes being solved are huge and involve police in both Sweden and Denmark. Saga Noren partners with morally-flawed "Martin Rohde" (series 1 and 2) and the emotionally tortured "Hendrik Sabroe" (Series 3). I couldn't stop watching this series until I'd seen all 30 episodes across 3 series. It's on Lightbox. In Danish and Swedish with English sub-titles.

Unless, of course, you are that rarest of creatures: a New Zealander who speaks Icelandic! How many of those do you reckon there are? Single digits I reckon.

I can't watch Hulu. I don't have a US credit card. Lightbox was flawless, so it wasn't a problem.

There is also a UK / French version called "The Tunnel" about crimes between those two countries and the channel tunnel highlights the trans-border work the relevant police forces...and I'm told the plots are a cut / paste with "The Bridge".

Both the US (The Bridge) and French/UK (The Tunnel) programmes are adaptations of the Swedish/Danish original. Not surprising, as it's a great concept.

I've watched all series of the original, and felt each subsequent season hasn't been quite at the same level as the previous, in particular the most recent one which has a change to one of the two key characters. Still, must-watch viewing in our house, so good to know a fourth season's on its way.

We've been binge-watching Daredevil this last week - I think Jessica Jones is a better series, but still I'm really enjoying it so worth pushing past a fairly slow start.

There is quite a bit of subtitled drama worth watching - but I know a lot of people have this 'I dont want to read' policy - their loss I reckon.

The Bridge is one of the best series I have seen for a very long time. The actress who plays Saga is simply amazing. She reckons it messes with her head for a while after she finishes the role. To make a character like Saga work so well is no small thing.

Engrenages(or Spiral) is another series well worth viewing - its up to series 5 - with hopefully a series 6 not far away. Its a French police/procedural drama. Quite gritty and grimy. Has really good interaction between the legal system and the police. Things often go wrong on both sides of the process and it makes for pretty good viewing. The french legal system is quite different to ours - has some pluses and minuses.

another show worth watching if you dont mind subtitles is The Eagle: A Crime Odyssey, on netflix, and its a Danish crime series. Well worth the effort.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

'The Night Manager' on BBC - based on a John le Carré novel. Brilliant mini-series of six episodes, with Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston.

Binge watched The Night Manager over the weekend. Really enjoyed it and wished it there was more.
