My son and I went to see Black Adam at the movies last night.

Good solid effort at a superhero movie. Violent, in the way DC movies tend to be.

I didn't hate it at all. It's no Peacemaker, but it's pretty good.

Everything Everywhere All at Once

My youngest son has become a bit of a film buff and he was raving about this. I found it alternately entertaining and confusing and weird.

I am not sure what I would rate it out of 10. Could be a 2, could be a 9.

Sausage fingers were disturbing.

The School for Good and Evil:
I was mildly entertained with this movie.  Wasnt something I really wanted to watch but the girlfriend had other opinions on that. Id give it a good 6/10

Hellraiser (2022):
I thought this was utter garbage. I vageuly remember watching the original many years ago.  There were no scares, no real story line, just 120 minutes of meh.  Not the worst "horror" Ive seen, after all Ive watched a few on Prime Video :-P  4/10

Jeepers Creepers Reborn:
This made hellraiser look good. I enjoyed the first movie, wasnt overly impressed with the next two but this one hit an all time low.  A story that was lacking in every department.  For a reboot it really has nothing going for it.  For a horror it is severely lacking, unless you consider the acting a horror unto itself.  1/10

I used to be Famous (Netflix)

Former 90's Boy Band member, fallen on hard times meets an autistic kid and launches a comeback.

It's OK. Has its moments and is a typical bleak UK drama with a heartwarming ending, but there is a bit of a lack of realism, in that the East London tower blocks and council flats are a lot cleaner and safer looking than I remember them.

All quiet on the western Front. Netflix.

Some of this was really hard to watch but it really got its message across about the futility of war and  is well worth the watch but im not sure i was entertained.  9/10

Common sense is not as common as you think.

I completely agree with this. I can't decide if it's a 2 or a 9 either. I keep thinking maybe I should rewatch it again - a second viewing may help

A Jazzman's Blues 7/10 Netflix. Created by well known American playwright Tyler Perry better known around the world for lending Megan and Harry his mansion. Perry has taken a lot of flak for this movie. Nevertheless it's the story he wanted to tell. The music is enjoyable. The insanity of living under American apartheid until President Kennedy ended it in 1964 will be familiar to older South African viewers. Apart from the tacked on feeling opening scenes and ending scenes it has an excellent pace all the way.

The biggest problem is that it outstayed it's welcome a little. They could have shaved 20 minutes or so from the last 3rd of the film.

But it's worth watching just for Raccacoonie, and to see Short Round from Indiana Jones playing the husband.

' Blade Of The 47 Ronin ' {2022} was a very good watch, plenty of action.

Ancient Japanese Ronin warriors set 300 years after 47 Ronin, in a modern-day world where Samurai clans exist in complete secrecy.

Dragon's Heaven (1988)

On Youtube. You can skip first 6 minutes.

From zimmerit

"Released on February 25, 1988, Dragon’s Heaven was a 40-minute video that seemed to encapsulate much of [manga artist] Kobayashi’s style and influences. It was heavy on style and design while light on plot and character , but that doesn’t detract from the experience. It’s safe to say that there’s nothing else out there that looks quite like Dragon’s Heaven."

Bullet Train  5 / 10 .  Glad I didn't pay money  to see it in the theater.  Amazon can I have my US$5.99 back ??  Was a bit underwhelmed  compared to the trailer.

Black Adam. 6.5/10

Started well but  I wanted Hawkman and his whining morality to die a fiery death by about half way through.

Last Night In Soho 7.5 DVD

Latest effort from director Edgar Wright (Baby Driver) is an odd mix of thriller and horror which starts off on a completely different vein to how it finishes.

Worth a watch.

The Handmaid's Tale Season 4 DVD 8/10

Obviously lacks the impact of the first season but still very powerful. Perfect vehicle for Elisabeth Moss whose rage against Gilead and especially the Waterfords knows no bounds.
