Given he's based on Kukulkan, yes wings.
Glass Onion - Knives out. Not sure why people were so negative about it, I quite enjoyed it. Not astounding, but amused me for a couple of hours. 7/10
Whiplash (2014)
Not "enjoyable" but superb. JK Simmons is quite remarkable. 9/10

Yep felt the same, think I said earlier in thread that I enjoyed it more than the first. Upon rewatch that's not quite the case anymore, but it's still good.

I tend to watch most media with an eye on something else, those movies aren't ones you can do that with, you really need to pay attention to get the most of them.
I struggled with Daniel Craigs 'accent'. :)
That's kind of why I enjoy foreign films sometimes. Makes me have to concentrate and put down the screens.
The Green Mile - 9.7/10 (Netflix)
My girlfriend and I are sharing films that the other hasn't seen, and shamefully for me, I have never seen The Green Mile. So we sat down to watch this over two nights (it's over 3 hours long).
Even split over two nights, this is a monumentally good film. It's harrowing, horrific, brutal, beautiful, uplifting, and chilling. I went in knowing nothing other than it starred Tom Hank and Michael Clarke Duncan, and it was set on death row, and it was based on the book by Stephen King (for reference, again shamefully, I have not read any Stephen King novels, but I know generally the genre he writes and the high esteem in which he is held). So I got to watch it "fresh", and man it blew my mind.
For all I often decry movies with no character development, or ones that are plot-dense with no interesting characters, this is one of those films that gets it right. The plot moves along nicely - it's not rushed, and while it's a long film it doesn't feel like it's wasting my time. We see characters introduced, fleshed out, motives revealed, stories expounded and mysteries resolved. It does it with a light touch - nothing feels forced. It doesn't shy away from the brutality of the setting - Depression-era US prison - and the scenes of the electric chair are not gratuitous, but don't hide the violence of the act. But it's offset by the sensitivity of the prison guards (except for Percy - I can't use the words I want to use to describe that character!), and the genuine affection and respect they develop for their charges.
I don't think I can say I "enjoy" a movie that deals with such a horrific topic as state-sanctioned murder via the death penalty - though there are some much-needed moments of levity especially from Tom Hanks who brings a real humanity to his character - but I can definitely say that I appreciated it. It is a magnificent masterpiece of movie storytelling, and now that I've watched it I can cross it off my list - and will leave it for many, many years before I feel the need to re-watch it.
Once Upon A Time in Hollywood - 9.5/10 - DVD
The more times I watch this movie the better it gets.
Tarrantino on top form and the combination of De Caprio and Brad Pitt is captivating. Brad definitely deserved his Oscar and the many supporting actors including Margot Robbie (outstanding as Sharon Tate), Bruce Dern and Al Pacino all came to the party. Even a cameo appearance by Damien Lewis provides a perfectly believable Steve McQueen.
It's going to be a sad day when Tarrantino stops making movies.
Cocaine Bear
8/10 at cinema
A lot of fun. It reminds me of Tucker & Dale vs Evil. The first half is full of gore and humour then the back story comes into play and the action slows down.

Agree about the movie but I wouldn’t miss Tarantino movies.
Ad Astra
10/10 for me. Brad Pitt is good in this one too.
It has been a good hard science fiction movie to show people who aren’t fans of SF. I haven’t found anyone who doesn’t enjoy it. Even my wife was hooked at the first psych evaluation right at the start of the movie.
I watched and 'Everything you didn't know about Snatch' video on YouTube yesterday and found out some interesting facts about Brad Pits involvement. He apparently contacted Guy Ritchie asking for a part in in Snatch after hearing that Guy had a new project in the works (because he'd loved Lock Stock). At that time there were no parts suitable for Brad, and they didn't want to risk him trying an east London accent, so Guy completely re-wrote the script introducing the Travellers and Mikey O'Neal, and Brad aced it.
It also turns out that Alan Ford had twice been turned down for Brick Top after Saun Connery was unable to play the part because the budget wouldn't stretch to his involvement. When Alan turned up for his third try for the part, he'd forgotten his contact lenses and wore those thick as glasses, and Guy knew they had their man. Genius casting IMO as Alan was one scary bastard in the role.
Stephen Graham was also a happy accident. He'd gone to a casting session to support a friend, and Guy thought he was there to read and invited him to do so. When he heard Stephen say he was not actually on the list, that was enough. Guy loved his Scouse accent and gave him the part.

We Have a Ghost (Netflix)
Didn't expect much, but found this a wonderfully enjoyable family movie. Plenty of laugh out loud moments while following a pretty decent underlying story. An easy watch, not to scary for the smaller ones, and sure to put a smile on most faces.
Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

I enjoyed it, but found the acting a bit amateurish. Sci-fi and religion mixed in.
Prime Video.
Ant Man Quantumania.
Yeah...I think they were drunk when they thought this would be a good way to progress the Ant Man story. 5/10
