Voicemail on its own pisses me off. Sure it made sense when email was not a thing, SMS was not a thing and people had phones that did not do either of those things. Nowdays it is a useless piece of old crap that only old people use, leaving messages despite the greeting saying "Send me a text or an email, I dont listen to messages left here"

I hate people that do not answer emails after you have tried to leave them both a txt and voice message that they have not replied to! Hahahaha

Seriously though, this is becoming a greater problem as people hide behind technology, especially on the commercial level.

Perhaps they have nothing to say to you? Perhaps they have more important things to be doing? Perhaps they just cant face dealing with you?

There are plenty of reasons to ignore attempts at communication from other people. To think that everything deserves a response is a but arrogant IMO.

WOW - Even in a work related environment? (See above remarks ........ especially on the commercial level"). Sorry to say, but if I had an inkling that any of my staff had the slightest lean towards an attitude like that, they would be gone by Monday. I'm old school and proud to admit it. If any of my 1,200 clients want to talk or communicate with either me or my staff, it must be important to them. And they pay the office rent, payroll and all additional costs, so yes - they do deserve an immediate response..

So when I or any of my staff get pissed off with what is becoming an increasing number of people hiding behind technology, I will get involved. And I will jump up and down because at the end of the day, I do not want to see any of my people get blamed for some other persons slack-arsed attitude.

Arrogance does not come into it - performance to client expectations does. I wish more people would try it, they might get to understand that feel good factor for a job well done.

I make a genuine effort to deal with every email that I receive - including looking at work emails when I'm on holiday - and I manage to respond to the vast majority that require a response. However the reality is that when my email count starts to creep too far beyond 50 per day in an overworked and overstressed environment then it becomes increasingly difficult to manage.

If it's 7pm and I have 20 unread emails and a full schedule the next day then I may be left with no choice but to declare 'email bankruptcy'. I really hate the rare occasions when this happens, but I'm only human and I have to sleep at some point.

Speaking generally (not directed at anyone in particular), I get the impression that a number of business operators should not be in business at all. If they are overloaded with emails, then something is wrong with their organisation or business practices. If they resent being intruded upon by their customers, they should probably be in a different occupation. DaveB has hit the nail squarely on the head. Running a business is not (or should not be) just waiting around to collect people's money. It also involves providing a service, even if that service is only straightforward retail sales. If you can't graciously handle the demands that go with that, you and your customers would probably be better off if you went and did something else.

Tacos full stop.  They may be tasty, but bloody impossible to eat without making a mess.

Hahaha... Just had them ourselves... Wrap the broken ones in soft tortilla.

FWIW, the flat-bottomed shells tend to break less. In our house anyway.

mdf: I hate all the IVR on my (too many) voicemails. Why does my home, work and mobile voicemail service each use a different number for "delete message"!? And since I don't get enough voicemails any more to be checking them more than a few times a week, I can never remember the different number for each and so am forced to wait through the options for saving, forwarding. And forwarding!? I have *never* forwarded a voicemail...

Something that annoys me is people who post in a thread without reading through the thread to see if their comment has already been posted.
