tukapa1:k1w1k1d:John Wick 4.
1/10. No story, just killing and mayhem from start to finish. Completely unplausible fight scenes.
Dunno if it's just me, but I don't watch movies like John Wick for plausible fight scenes....

American Psycho - DVD - 8/10
Christian Bale is perfect as the Wall Street yuppie going insane. Still an excellent watch.
The Huey Lewis/Weird Al parody is hilarious
Fast X - 6/10 (in theatres)
I put my partner through the wringer by re-watching the Fast and Furious franchise from Fast 5 onwards, in advance of going to see Fast X. It was hilarious, watching as she pointed out the incredulity of the stunts and action set pieces. I observed that if she found the safe heist in Fast 5 unbelievable, she better buckle up because it doesn't get any more believable. We watched F9 just before going to see Fast X, and believability was stretched to breaking point by Dom and Letty jumping a gorge in a Dodge Charger by...somehow...driving onto a cable and swinging across said gorge like freaking Tarzan! And this was before they launched a car into space...
So it was somewhat refreshing to go and see a more "personal" story in Fast X. The stunts are still unbelievable, but we half-expected them to develop time travel going by the escalation of previous movies. There's no point discussing the plot, or the characters, because they both might as well be animated at this point. I honestly don't even recall the plot (beyond the introduction of Dante played by Jason Momoa), or any significant action set pieces. All that I can remember is the gleeful mania of Jason Momoa chewing up every scene he's in. What did Tej/Roman/Ramsey get up to? No idea. What was Letty doing? Haven't a clue. But watching Jason Momoa hang out with a couple of corpses painting their toenails like somethign out of Weekend at Bernie's was delightful.
There's a cliffhanger, because there is going to be a direct sequel (hopefully an end to the franchise altogether), and there is a post-credit scene (directly after the main credits), but honestly I don't even remember what that was.
Like a piece of chewing gum - completely lacking in nutritional value, empty, but enjoyable for a few minutes until the flavour disappears and then it's forgotten and discarded.

All I can say is, she's a keeper. 😂

😆 I couldn't agree more!
Guardians of the Galaxy 3
Interesting movie, not sure how I feel about it. Lots of things I liked, some I didn't, but I am not sure I could tell you specifically which was which. At the end I left the cinema having mostly enjoyed it and satisfied there won't be any more. 7/10 perhaps.
Avatar The Way of Water (Disney+) 6/10
I’m sure this movie would have been spectacular at the cinema but I waited until it was available on D+. We found the movie overly long and took a long time to get going and my wife gave up after an hour (movie is 3:12 long). The animation/cgi has certainly moved on since the first Avatar and was impressive, particularly when I watched the second half on our OLED rather than the projector. But as with other franchises like Transformers and Jurassic Park, the special effects have become de rigour and need to be backed up with a good story and characters. From my perspective the script was predictable and the characters one dimensional. At least Cameron didn’t out and out preach the morals of the story, but they were pretty obvious anyway.

I've been off sick again the last few days so have been watching a bit of telly.
Saw a film on Prime Video called Proximity.
Production values were pretty good. SFX not too bad. Acting terrible and plot diabolical. 3/10
Also watched an interesting Christmas movie: Violent Night (also on Prime).
Stars David Harbor (of Stranger Things fame) and John Leguizamo.
In essence it's a Christmas tale of a rich family having their annual get together and their family compound is raided by mercenaries.
Santa happens to be there and he kicks some a$$.
It's violent, bloody, fun and well worth the watch if you like that sort of thing.
I saw it described as John Wick meets Home Alone. It's accurate. 8/10
Renfield: Nicholas Cage is Dracula. Nicholas Hoult is Renfield, his familiar.
Violence and blood and some goofy humour abound in this rather over-the-top vampire comedy/horror.
I quite liked it. 6.5/10

Watched John wick 4 This weekend....mmm, to be honest, not as good as the first 3. 6/10.
Story line good, and overall production was good, but the fight scenes, especially the first hour or so felt choppy, you could see the acting and the Choreography was not great at all. Was not as smooth and flowing as the first 3. Was very obvious and distracting. And dont get me started on the BS of the bullet proof suits. In 3 it was a unique showpiece, it shouldve remained that as a once off item. in 4 everyone wears them - they can just as well not use guns - not to mention it stops a bullet but not a knife, or broken piece of glass, or a pen or or or
Saw the flash last night at Titan XC. Was great. Some great Cameo's. Ezra Millar is the worst thing about the movie, he's a decent actor, but I hate his face :)
I enjoyed this the most of many of the recent superhero movies, had some humor, great action and OMG Supergirl.

Any wokeness issues before I commit to going to watch it?

Nothing huge that I can recall.

I also watched the latest Flash movie at the cinema on Saturday night.
I really enjoyed it. It didn't feel too long, it was well paced and the cameos were quite good, although one in particular was actually hilarious.
The main actor was as I would expect him to be as Barry Allen - the quirkiness and awkwardness was on point. I don't like him particularly and know there have been some issues in real life, but the character was good.
It's probably the best DC universe film outside of the latest Suicide Squad one, which I thought was great.
Also watched a film on TV - the original Fast and Furious movie. It wasn't as bad as I remember. Baffles me that it ended up having 743 sequels though.
