AFAIK the Police would need a search warrant. Unless the item is unique just seeing another one like yours is probably not sufficient grounds to get one.

I managed to get some stolen wheels back that were advertised online due to being able to match curb marks and the physical size of them (was a unique fitment) but it did involve me using a personal friend within the police to get things started.

took them about 8 months to catch up with the thief and they only ended up with home detention

I went to a local Indian restaurant's website and was happy to see an Order Online button. It does nothing.

Closer inspection revealed that the menu is also... incomplete.

"FIRST ITEM ON THE LIST $20 Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet consectetur adipiscing elit dolor"

Plus it has generic ads for double burger meat and other stuff that an Indian place wouldn't sell.

Why is this site available to the public when it's clearly unfinished?!

One of my local takeaway places use Easy Eats. What a disaster. Visited a couple of months back and images wouldn't load, and when loading they would take forever. They had those huge 4 - 5 Mbytes images that were supposed to be just a small thumbnail. Loading those on mobile took forever because their CDN was misconfigured. Loading on desktop, with 1 Gbps fibre wasn't better either.

Just tried now to see how it is going and there are no images for this takeaway anymore. Also, some items you can order over the phone or in-person are not on the online menu.

Tried a different takeaway place and they do have images but they are too small so when shown as part of the menu they just appear like a blurry mess.

But I am sure Easy Eats is taking a cut.

The "hut" next door is finally getting its roof put on! (After a wet weekend and showery morning!)

Americans are going crazy because petrol has hit a record-breaking US$5 a gallon. Unless I am way off (always possible), that works out to about $1.20 of our money for a litre. Poor Americans.

(I lived in America in my distant youth. I actually remember when it was 29 cents a gallon!)

My first trip to a gas station in America, in some small POS hatchback.  Went in to prepay $50.  The attendant laughed and said let's try $20.  Still too much.

I was on Reddit a few weeks ago and stated that it had cost over $200 to fill me (then) car...the Americans on the thread didn't believe me until I posted the receipt. Them they tried to argue that the NZD was about 12c US...

Just be glad you don't drive the yank tank I saw on the weekend. It gets 100m/litre. That's not a typo, 10 litres per km.

Sounds horrendous. What is it -  I'm guessing, actually a tank?

Yeah, it is quite literally a yank tank :-). They were phased out with all due haste due to the ghastly fuel consumption, the guy said it burned several litres just moving it into the storage area.

That's wild!

Just out of interest - do Tracked Vehicles use more fuel to get moving, or is it just the weight of these beasts that makes them so inefficient?

Reminds me of a little anecdote from a workmate who was flying from Heathrow to Paris for a weekend trip.  While queuing for take-off the pilot came over the tannoy to announce that they were waiting behind a Concorde, and added that this would use more fuel for take-off than the entire 737 flight to Paris that they were on.

(Don't ask me to back this up with facts or statistics, I don't have any and can't be bothered looking.)

Not an expert but I expect all those tracks and wheels all add tons of friction. Tanks are not optimised for drag so once they get moving their aerodynamics are awful.

So one star for fuel efficiency. Probably 5 stars for crash survival though.

Unless you are driving a Russian tank, I guess.

They get slammed by ANCAP for no air bags and for the adverse effect on hit pedestrians.

Remember that the fuel consumption is also significantly impacted by engine size - a Challenger 2 MBT has a 26 litre engine making 890kW!

The running joke when we had Centurian was "a jerry can to start up, a jerry can to the cattle stop" - a distance of about 400m...
