larknz: Registered a dispute yesterday after dates had been extended and of cause the parcel arrived today
yup the perfect outcome
Had 6 packages arrive today all in a neat pile held together by a rubber band from NZPost. So IMO it is confirmed the hold up is NZ Post.
What is strange, 3 of the packages had a yellow sticker attached "Card to Call", "your mail has bee held for the following reasons: Security Purpose"
Packages have not been open and checked, looks like this has been used as an excuse.

Looks like your delivery branch is up to the same tricks ours used to be. I've had cards saying "too big for letterbox" and "nobody home" delivered inside bundles of other mail. Clearly, no delivery attempt was being made and the cards were being sent out with other mail. When I called to complain, I was told they had better things to be doing than delivering my mail!
2 things today. 2 yesterday. That one I posted was moving again hasn't shown up tho.
One was a bag inside a bag. Inside bag malaisia post with a sent date of 14-jan-2020, the outside bag zambia post with a sent date of 06-feb-2020 so no idea why it took that much of a detour. The order is now 6 months old. I had given up on that one.
The other is a china post one that was sent on 18-may-2020 so more inline with what I would expect if there was a holdup.

Things are definitely weirder than normal at present.
(NZPost are weird at the best of times!)

I bought something in April (about $10 value) which didn't arrive so I got AliExpress to refund me.
Of course it turned up this week. Is there any way to pay for it now?

You could contact the seller and pay them via Paypal, but I probably wouldn't in this instance.
April is well into the timeframe that COVID was known to be causing shipping issues. AliExpress has guaranteed delivery windows, and if the seller must accept that they are obligated to deliver within the agreed time. They would have been aware of potential delays at the time the product shipped and should have adjusted their listings accordingly.
I had a package from February which arrived very late. I did not offer anything to the seller, largely because they lied when I opened a dispute. Any lies, or shipping via incorrect methods and they'll automatically not get a cent from me even if the package subsequently arrives.

You can message seller. If price stays same I purchase the same item and ask to not send it to me.

I got same situation. I even forgot about this order, which is 7 months old. Same route China -> Malaysia -> Zambia -> NZ
Got update on other parcels $ months old now saying "Arrived at facility. New Zealand".
Hoping to receive them on Friday
I received item yesterday, which was purchased in the beginning of January. It was marked as lost, refunded back in the end of March. Not sure why it was double packaged, seems like initial parcel was opened and sealed in another bag.

Was the outter package from a bizzare countrys post service? I've had 2 Zambia ones now, and a friend had one from some other small place that wouldnt normally be doing mail redirection.
I've had a Zambia package this week, with the original Malaysia package inside it. Why would packages be routed through Zambia though?
