Captain America - Brace New World

Well, that’s a couple of hours of my life I won’t get back. Could have read something useful instead.

Why would anyone bother with an MCU movie at this point? It’s been 6 years since they made a good movie.

Bridget Jones 4. Thoroughly enjoyed it despite the fact I haven’t seen the other 3 films. Cried like 5 times.

Only 5 times?

The Gorge (rated 6.8/10 on IMDB)

SciFi/Horror/Romance that I really enjoyed. Bit of a take your brain out and just enjoy the movie type which was just what I fancied. Watched it cause of Miles Teller who I've liked since Whiplash (he and J K Simmons are fantastic in that) and Anya Taylor-Joy who I dont mind. Story goes at a good pace for a 2hr movie too.

I am not a film buff so don't generally comment here but last night I had Wonder Woman 1984 on in the background while doing some browsing and I caught enough of it to feel compelled to register some kind of comment. Surely this incoherent mess must qualify as one of the worst films ever made. Even by the standards of superhero films it doesn't make any sense at all. Hey, I can fly. It must be magic. It has no discernable plot and is a truly stupid film and an insult to anyone who wastes their time on it.

The first one was actually quite enjoyable, but WW84 was just absolute garbage. Not as bad as Aquaman 2, but pretty close.

I thought Guardians of the Galaxy 3 was pretty good. But for the most part I've actively hated nearly everything post Infinity War (I'll argue until the day I die Infinity War was vastly superior to Endgame).

The Accountant 2

This looks as good as the first one, which I enjoyed.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

The Gorge on Apple TV+

An intersting and entertaining movie that goes from drama to romantic thriller to action to SciFi to Scifi-Horror.

It stars Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller

They each man a watch tower on either side of a gorge (hence the name of the film) in an unspecified location.

Effectively, they do a 1-year tour of duty on the watch tower and they are not meant to make contact with the other side.

The other side is obviously an East/West thing dating from back before the Cold War.

They somewhat break the rules and then it all gets interesting...

I really enjoyed it, for what it was. It was entertaining and had some good actions scenes and the odd jump-scare.

Well shot, produced and acted, I thought it was a good movie. 8/10

The Gorge on AppleTV. Enjoyed this a bit, I think it would have been a pretty decent book too.

7.5/10.

A Real Pain: Disney+ (8.5/10)

If Kieran Culkin doesn't win an award this year for best supporting actor there's something seriously wrong.

Started watching Bookworm on Neon last night (unfortunately we were interrupted and didn't finish it in one sitting, so will complete our viewing this evening).

Shot entirely in NZ, it's a great little movie about a young girl and her estranged father.

The young girl in the lead role is (in my opinion) destined for great things...

I watched The Gorge as well. I thought the first hour was really promising, even unique in it's premise, but the second hour or so was a real let down and kind of felt like a hundred movies beforehand.

Yeah, I mean, it definitely did end very samey as all action movies, and the start did promise better things. It could have been a classic.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts

I think I have seen it before.
Maybe I haven't.
I don't know.

I've lost count of the number of Transformers movies where Bumblebee dies.

This is set in the 90's - has a decent 90's hip hop soundtrack. Feels and looks and smells like a transformers movie.

100% terrible. Maybe I'm just not 12 anymore.
