I suppose I should be happy that they eventually changed the connecting flight for free. But, in keeping with this thread's title, I'm still annoyed that it took the best part of an hour on the phone to get it done.

Oh wait.... just a day later, they changed that booking too, to another flight an hour later.

The AirNZ safety video is a waste of time. If they cut the jokes we would be in the air about three minutes earlier. It may not seem like much, but those video are annoying.

Yes - and I think they are somewhat unprofessional. They start to trivialise a subject that should be taken seriously. Annoying as you say and embarrassing.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Then there's a whole bunch of issues around the safety briefings anyway.

Who in this day and age does not know how to put on and release a seatbelt?
Why do the words "Federal Aviation Regulations require (or prohibit)..." need to be included?
And a few other things I forget offhand.

Agreed. I wonder if Air NZ are self-aware enough to realise this? They've done it to death now and it needs to go back in the cupboard for a while. If they want to make funny films (and I use the word 'funny' in the broadest possible sense) then by all means make them and stick them on You Tube and the IFE system, not the mandatory safety video which should really say "If there is a major issue on this flight, you will probably die, so sit back, relax and hope that Matt in Engineering wasn't too hung over when he repaired the landing gear this morning."

Classic, but don't forget the one about the aircraft manufacturer not bothering to inform pilots that the steering wheel now works backwards.

I always remember this from a bicycle magazine. Some guy wrote in after his aluminum bike frame broke. After writing a long technical answer, the magazine's resident bike nerd finished with this: "Fact is aluminum fatigues. Think about that on your next plane trip."

An item about a crash on RNZ. Then this in conclusion:

A man working at a nearby store, who didn't want to be named, said he heard a lot of commotion, and looked outside to see "three or so" people lying on the ground.

"It's not a busy street. This is the first time something like this has happened," he said.

This is the written equivalent of the live cross. It doesn't add anything to the story. The reporterrepeater grabbed someone at random from the onlookers and quoted a pointless remark to create a phoney sense of immediacy. It is a cheap trick to cover the fact that there isn't any real information to report. One expects this kind of crap from the usual tabloid rags. It is most unfortunate to this creeping more and more into our only supposed 'quality' news site.

Earlier in the week they had a news item about the fires in California, claiming lives etc.

The next story began with a line about "the burning issue is..."

I cringed.

Having to use the self service tills at K-Mart which takes 5 times longer due to the stupid developers instance that everything be weighed.

"There is an unexpected item in the bagging area" .. yes its the plastic bag to put the things in!

"Please place the item in the bagging area" .. no it's table, I'm to going to try and bag it!

I may have said this before, but bloody Android apps really annoy me. They are nearly all made for phones, meaning they can't be navigated properly without a touchscreen. Most though would work fine on Android boxes if the developers just took the trouble to include keypress or mouse commands. Surely it can't be that difficult?

Android and IOS are primarily phone OSs some Apps scale ok to larger formats most don't and it is the same on both platforms. Some Apps have been rewritten for tablets but they are either in house like Mail and Safari on IOS or are paid for Apps. Problem with these mobile platforms folks want the Apps for nothing or a dollar or two. Rewritting them to be optimised for tablets takes a lot of developer time and effort. If folks want more they really need to pay more them. If ypur want a tablet with mouse controls etc IOS and Android are not what you should be looking. at. Windows 10 works well on tablet and the Surface Pro and Surface Go perform the tasks admirably and have Applications designed to work with mouse, keyboard and touch. Windows 10 on tablet also gives you proper file management.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I use Android for IPTV streaming. Windows is definitely not suited for that.

What is it and why isn't it running android TV?

Don't you have a shield?

What apps are you using?

And it's not androids fault, blame the devs. They could make it compatible with Android TV, but obviously chose not to.
