Found what I call a small flaw in the application of a coupon

3 parcels
Newest parcel - $17.25
Second - $36.25
Third - $31.50

Now I received a $6 discount on the second and third parcel for shipping together.

I go to apply the coupon and it takes it from the FIRST parcel in the list (i.e my cheapest) so my discount is just over $2.

Wish it had of applied the discount to ALL the parcels ($73.00 less 15%) or at least the most expensive parcel ($36.26 less 15%)

Guess I should be happy to receive any discount however :-)

Well, usually discount coupons come with a notice saying "Applicable to the cheapest item" or if it's a two for one deal usually "second item of same or less value".

Question regarding customs - I have four parcels with youshop, two valued at $100 and two at $200. If I pay for them all at once, so they ship together, will customs view them an indiviual parcels for duty purposes or will they take the total value of all four?

I'm just wondering if I would be better off shipping them in two seperate lots a week apart instead of all at once.

Well, as far as I know they could consider them as a group but generally don't. When I was imported computer parts I had a part ship on a Tuesday and another part ship on a Thursday, they actually arrived through customs the same day. One $300, one $200 didn't get stung for any fees.

If they are in separate boxes they will be seen as different parcels. If YouShop repackage all inside a single one, the story might change. I suggest you contact YouShop to clarify.

Non YouShop related but I had two parcels sent on different days which arrived in Auckland together.

Customs combined them into one parcel so they could ping me. When I asked the official about it he said this is standard practice

A couple of years ago I had two parcels arrive on the same day, from the same place, each below the limit. Customs added the two values together and I had to pay GST.

Yes, they could say coming from the same place the different parcels was a way to avoid a single larger invoice. If it was from different places then they probably wouldn't be able to say so.

Hi, I am planning buy a laptop from Amazon. The laptop costs around 900USD. Have been trying to work out the total cost. I was wondering has anyone ever been charged for the Clearance fee $135.82? On YouShop website, I noticed this charge includes the Brokerage + Import transaction fee. wonder if this Brokerage fee necessary?

Brokerage fee, according to YouShop terms it seems implied that they can basically force this fee on you.
"We may, at our sole discretion, do any of the following on your behalf to enable Your Packages to be Shipped:

complete any documents required under applicable laws and regulations;
act as your forwarding agent for customs and export control purposes, and as a receiver solely for the purpose of designating a customs broker to perform customs clearance and entry; and
take such other steps to carry out the Services by any route, means and carrier as we see fit."

However in, "Will GST and duties apply to my YouShop Parcels?". "This charge includes the Customs Brokerage charge as well as the NZ Customs Import Transaction Fee. If you choose to use another clearance agent, these charges from New Zealand Post will not apply". Bear in mind if you are trying to clear the item yourself, "If your goods are valued at over NZ$1,000, you will need a client code and a supplier code. These are unique numbers that identify you, as the importer, and also your supplier.".

If you choose to use another clearance agent, these charges from New Zealand Post will not apply, but you will need to pay your clearance agent’s fees. The GST and/or duty amounts payable are in addition to the clearance charges.

So does it mean that in case my item gets above the 400$ mark, not only i pay gst but i also pay a additional $135 to NZ post? Is this right??

If you let me NZPost be your broker then yes, otherwise no but possibly a fee if you choose another broker.
