Yes, I have a Shield. I mainly use it with Kodi for FTA streams including NZ, Oz and others. I also use different add-ons. Apart from this, I often see apps for sites that interest me but they almost never work properly on either the Shield or my other generic box. Usually I cannot navigate all of the site because the app is 'made for phones' and I can't scroll since I don't have a touch screen or I can't access some functions. That is my complaint. There are a half-dozen variants that all go by the name of Android but they all seem to be incompatible with each other. It would just be nice if something that has Android in the name actually worked with other things called Android. At the moment more things don't work together than do. That gets annoying.

The obsession with "friends" in software.

For example, both Apple Music and Spotify have parts where you can "Find out what your friends are listening to". The purpose of this eludes me. If I want to know what my friends are listening to, since I speak to friends and spend time with them, I will presumably know what they listen to already. In actuality, I really don't care what they are listening to...

Worst of all, you can't make these programs stop pestering you to use those parts of them, either directly by pop up or by passive-aggressive parts of the window that just stare at you silently demanding input.

To be fair, you probably aren't the target audience for these features :)

But I agree, turning them off would be useful.

People who have real friends don't need this nonsense.

That's a terrible generalization to make. These features are used by plenty of people with 'real' friends.

What is your definition of a "real" friend that would preclude the requirement for these features?

These features are targeted primarily at a different age group who don't interact the same way.

It seems reasonable to make it a check box in the Settings though...

Imagine the reverse - a permanent section of the window in huge type asking if you need the font increased due to age-related vision issues that young people could not turn off....!

No idea. Neither really since both are subscription services and in order to see the friends bit you would already have subscribed therefore the sale has already occurred and no further additional subscriptions will result from finding out that your friend secretly listens to Barclay James Harvest when you thought they were hard core thrash metal fans...

I *had* my phone set up to start playing music automatically when I'm in the car, via the car's BT. That was all working beautifully, until Samsung "upgraded" their (Who really own the damn music player, if it's on *my* phone?) music player. Now, every time I open my? music player, it asks if I want to "Start" something with Spotify. I really don't care... I don't use Spotify, and have no intention of using it. I assume that this Spotify thing is somehow interefering with my auto-play via Easer thing.

Anyone got recommendations for an Android music player? Simple & straightforward is good... no play lists, favourites, graphic equalisers, web lookups needed. I just want it to play music from my phone (preferably stored on both the phone and SD card... haven't found anything that does this yet) in shuffle mode.

I use Poweramp. It is a paid app, but quite powerful.

The Google Play Music app can play locally stored MP3s. And it is probably already on your phone.
