All the steps I gotta go through to upload a picture:

1. Take pic(s) on cellphone my sister gave me years ago that I only use as a camera.

2. Connect cellphone to laptop with USB cable.

3. Wait an eternity for the Computer thing on Windows to recognise the phone and hopefully not decide (yet again) it can't find the driver for it.

4. Open up the phone icon and wade through about five folders to find pics.

5. Wade through all the pics to find the one I want.

6. Copy it to Windows desktop.

7. Upload it to whatever website I want to.

Was that from the pins of its mains power plug, or the Ethernet cable sockets?

As the interference suppression capacitors in the power supply sometimes retain enough charge to cause a mild shock. This can happen on almost any switchmode power supply.

The lifts that require you to pre-select a floor and then tell you which lift to catch. Half the time I've forgotten which one it told me by the time it arrives. Not to mention the passengers who dive through the doors at the last minute and then ask "where are the buttons?"

None of those squares has a fire hydrant in it. Each of those squares has a piece of a fire hydrant, but no complete hydrant.

Besides, the question also assumes more than one hydrant.

Wasn't sure unfortunately as i dropped it out of my hand when it happened. The ethernet ports are of the shielded type so could have easily been either end. They must have some decent caps in them as i notice the power indicator LED stays on for quite some time after they've been disconnected and unplugged.

Hate to say it but - get Apple.

I was asked today to send in a photo for a product complaint. Took the shot on iPhone, went to MacBook, found and uploaded the photo, which had been sent to iCloud, within all within a minute. Could equally have done the upload from the iPhone itself or iPad within the same timeframe but it was easier on the laptop.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Install OneDrive (either Android or iOS). Log with your OneDrive account. Set to automatically sync photos to cloud. Find photos in your computer with OneDrive Camera Roll. Done.

Buying some plastic outdoor furniture from TradeTested via Trademe. The ad studiously avoids mentioning that the whole thing is self-assembly - and we find this out only when the flat-pack carton is dropped off by the courier. That’s OK because I’m a pretty darn-good DIY’er.

Unpack the parts - no assembly instructions included. Assembly is reasonably complicated because many of the parts look very similar and there’s multiple bolts to be used in hidden places. I’d say many of their customers who have little or no DIY skills would really struggle with this - even with instructions. Without instructions, it’s a complete mystery. Failing to mention self-assembly in the ad is deceptive IMO.

After extensive googling, find the manufacturer’s website in the Netherlands and download the instructions. Things start well but soon get extremely confusing. After a lot of cursing and swearing it is found that one major part is missing and that another very similar part from a completely different model has been thrown in there just to keep things interesting. Also included is one additional component that is not part of this set.

Very unimpressed. Still being resolved.

Unfortunately true - used to really dislike my brother extolling Apple virtues for years and I was Wintel/Android until relatively recently - then .....

I've decided there must be a gap in the market for whoever can make a system combining the best of both worlds...!

Hate the ideas of automatic cloud everything and Apple.

I have AndFtp (Android FTP client) on my phone and an FTP server on my (Linux, but surely you could find a Windows FTP server) desktop machine. In AndFtp I've configured the Desktop folder on Linux as the default directory. When I tap the "share" button on my phone AndFtp is one of the options. A couple more taps and the photo is on my desktop's Desktop. This does depend on WiFi though.

Or maybe you could get a BT dongle for your laptop and transfer your photos using that?
