Aredwood:

It was in a road safety advertisement approx 18 years ago. And it might have also been in the road code at the time.

I remember it as I was learning to drive around the same time. Although I didn't follow that silly rule when doing my practical licence tests. And I still passed.

Are you sure?  I would have done my MC licence around then and have never heard of it.  I know when they introduced the signalling to leave the roundabout, but a signal to to straight just sounds stupid, and people should be getting fined for it.

yep the rule went something like " when entering a roundabout indicate right unless taking the first exit, indicate left on leaving." I can remember my 15 year old self thinking it was such a stupid rule. if you had to indicate all the time, why not indicate none of the time (until you exited).

The only time you didn't need to indicate right on a roundabout was if the lane markings were set up "straight through"...hardly anyone knew that rule though

P.S. This is my thousandth post....

About to say just that. I assume Mike can't just take more Morphine, so its certainly not a small thing. Not sure what else to say, except I hope it improves

Pippa Wetzell's whiny voice.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

Yes yes yes. She puts on that whiny, wistful, meant-to-sound cutesy voice - and it’s vomit inducing.

Selling something a bit large (in this case a golf bag) for posting on TradeMe and clearly stating "Pick up only. Must be picked up from Churton Park, Wellington." Then inevitably someone from the other end of the country buys it and wants it posted.

Has happened to me several times - extremely annoying. There are some real idiots on TM.

I monitor the bidders and if they are obviously not from my pick-up area and have not made contact regarding mailing or some else picking up, I simply remove their bid and/or blacklist them without further ado.

When I was admitted to hospital for heart surgery as an emergency patient, I was lying in the cubicle before surgery. My memories are vague, to say the least, of that period but I do clearly recall a nurse coming in and asking me how my pain was on a scale of 1 to 10.

"Oh, it's a 10. But I do not care!"

I don't know what drug they had me on, but it completely disassociated me from the pain - one part of my brain knew it hurt like bejesus and the other part just did not care at all. Very odd.

Rude staff.

I had an incident recently when I was unavoidably late picking up something and was harangued by the girl who had had to remain in the shop 10 minutes after the end of the day - despite being charged extra as a result of the lateness. She even called me a "tw*t" for being late - and followed me out of the shop to continue her tirade on the pavement outside.

I debated whether to make a thing out of it but decided I would vote with my wallet instead and leave karma to deal with her.

Windows 10 bug du jour:

I was trying to set the keyboard layout so I opened the Settings app and typed "keyboard". Well, I actually typed "krybostf" because my hand was offset. I caught my mistake and deleted it, retyped it correctly, and pressed Enter.

"No results found for krybostf".

That I don't get to hear the other side of that story, so have to make a guess about what really happened...

Washed exterior of my grey car for first time in 2 months. Has made the little scratches and dents more noticeable.
