It was in a road safety advertisement approx 18 years ago. And it might have also been in the road code at the time.
I remember it as I was learning to drive around the same time. Although I didn't follow that silly rule when doing my practical licence tests. And I still passed.
Are you sure? I would have done my MC licence around then and have never heard of it. I know when they introduced the signalling to leave the roundabout, but a signal to to straight just sounds stupid, and people should be getting fined for it.
yep the rule went something like " when entering a roundabout indicate right unless taking the first exit, indicate left on leaving." I can remember my 15 year old self thinking it was such a stupid rule. if you had to indicate all the time, why not indicate none of the time (until you exited).
The only time you didn't need to indicate right on a roundabout was if the lane markings were set up "straight through"...hardly anyone knew that rule though
