There are ways to fix that kind of thing. I keep a Javascript switch extension and one that removes selected elements on Chrome. I usually use them if a site won't let me look at something unless I sign up.

Why are box-office records measured on revenue, prices will always go up so records will always break.  Surely it should be based on ticket-sales to truly measure a movie's popularity.

I can give you the reason: One of the measures of success is to compare the production cost with the revenue. The problem is when people start comparing revenues of movies produced in different eras.

Population is also increasing, so the argument invalidates ticket sales as a measure of popularity.

But box office records are not a measure of popularity. They are a measure of success, which in America is measured by money.

ASB have changed their Android internet banking app. They claim that it is an update, but they have only changed the look. And the buttons on the login screen are now smaller, with lots of wasted space around them. So it is actually a downgrade. As I'm not aware of any new features or bug fixes.

@asb will probably get more calls due to people getting locked out of the app. Due to users entering their PIN incorrectly too many times.

Kapiti line for me last night.  Cancellation due to 'staffing issues'.  Next train a sardine can, double passenger load with not enough carriages, causes it to run late, arrive at the other end to see the arse-end of an empty bus drive-away instead of waiting an extra two minutes.

Sick to death of videos from any source that bleep out certain words. The latest from George Clooney on Jimmy Kimmel is especially bad. He has a serious message cloaked in humour but all the f-ing bleeping makes it almost impossible to enjoy, or even listen to. I don't need up-tight fundamentalist American grannies with bladder control problems deciding what words are bad for me. I really hate this. It is a small thing that annoys me hugely.

The sheer difficulty of getting stuff done.

So many businesses and tradies appear to run their work simply for their benefit and not that of the customer.

I am presently trying to give some businesses a fairly significant sum of money - likely to be IRO $75,000 - for new windows and other work on our house. Can I get anyone to give it more than scant attention? Can I heck.

When you take some time to write a decent and respectful reply to a thread (painfully, on a phone) only to be greeted with "The page you requested was removed" when you hit post.

Sigh.
