afe66:

This finally killed off my Facebook account nearly 10 years ago.
I got bored of my ex professional female friends who were housebound and just kept uploading too many details about their new babies and toddlers. I get that everyone thinks their child is the greatest but more than 5 friends saying this at once got boring..

The ignore feature probably saved my account. I understand their enthusiasm but it's hard to balance. Ignore also means you avoid all the 'share to win' posts which seem popular with the stay at home parents.

Another spam phone call (which I didn't answer). Does Spark still get the interconnection revenue if I don't pick up?

I wonder what proportion of people still pick up. As soon as I saw the call from "023blahblah" I knew it couldn't be legit...

Facebook's stupidity. I've listed something I found (a bright orange pipe thing) in one of their sales group in the hopes of locating the owner. One of their artificially stupid algorithms has decided that:

"Your Item Isn't Approved

It looks like you're trying to sell an item that doesn't meet our policies. Common items we don't allow people to sell include animals, guns or illegal products. If you've read our policies and think your item should be approved, fill out this form."

TV aliens. I don't care that they somehow speak English but the amazing coincidence that they nearly all seem to be built on anthropoid morphology and possess human facial characteristics just completely undermines my ability to suspend disbelief. How is it that throughout our near-infinite universe, biological evolution keeps coming up with simian templates for advanced life forms, complete with five fingers and toes? Intelligent or not, the Designer sure seems to be lacking imagination.

That's why I loved the design of the creature in the movie Alien. The alien would take some of its characteristics from the host's DNA, but overall, it was totally alien to our way of life and biology.

Oh I don't know.  Pathogenic viruses seem pretty alien, but they're capable of hijacking our DNA and using it for their own benefit.

The way we humans worry about "scary" and slightly hazardous fellow earth dwellers like snakes and sharks, when we're thousands of times more likely to be eaten alive by some microscopic organism, as part of their plan to care for their progeny.

Shopping online and the advertised price being very low to entice you, then the item you actually want is far higher with a ridiculously inflated shipping price to boot.
