This is one of those subjects like religion and politics that you always try to avoid. Everyone has an opinion and everyone is sure their point of view is the right one.
Personally, I subscribe to the "best tyres on the back" school of thought, regardless of whether the car is FWD or RWD. I believe it's more likely that the rear will lose traction in the wet and spin out than the front.
And remember, tread depth only matters in the wet, on dry roads you’d be better off with a slick tyre but you’re not allowed to do that.
