If you don't see this you are running the gauntlet of bigotry. If you're ok with that then so am I.

The bigot word comes out.

Come on mods, sort out the name calling!!

It is in the FUG! Or , is name calling allowed sometimes?

NZtechfreak: I will merely leave some food for thought: when basically nobody agrees with your point of view, I think it is time to reflect on your point of view.

Honestly this does not mean anything. Just because many people disagree with you, it does not make you wrong.

OP is fully entitled to his opinion. Unfortunately, homosexual issue is deem sacred.

Well peoples opinions need to stop when they start attacking the human rights of others.

I get the sense you don't know what a human right is.  Coincidently this popped up on Kiwiblog the other day http://www.kiwiblog.co.nz/2014/07/human_rights_and_civil_rights.html

Pretty sure I'd trust the United Nations website more than KiwiBlog. So yeah I think I do know. It was also the first link on Google.

You're quoting a reasoned post out of context. I wasn't calling anyone names. I posted a set of circumstances which if true meet the definition of bigotry.

If you read my previous posts you'll see my position has nothing to do with "these gay discussion threads" as you so eloquently put it.

I would love to know what 'human rights' I am missing out on by not being married.

I'm astounded at the level of moral outrage in this thread, since I can't for the life of me see where in this thread anybody's human rights (civil or otherwise) were transgressed or where it was suggested that marrying whomever you choose, regardless of their gender, is wrong.

There was a lot of talk about their reasoning for marriage or divorce (a divorce that has yet to happen), and opinions on it.
Someone said there is no wrong opinion or something to that meaning, but if an opinion goes against human rights then it isn't just an opinion now.

Marriage is a right, and so is dissolution, when both parties consent fully. If someone holds an opinion that you cant divorce because you don't like your partners gap tooth anymore, then that opinion is wrong because it's your right to divorce.

Whatever reason for their marriage, or why they broke up or divorced is no ones problem but theirs.

That's why human rights were brought up.

The last few pages have gotten off topic and become pretty soapboxy.

The initial points stand though. People's reasons for and commitment to marriage differ and thats ok.

I didn't read it as name calling.

It's a summary of a speech given the Australian human rights commissioner.   So yeah you can be sanctimonious or actually gain some knowledge beyond having Google think for you.

You know I didn't get that you were talking about people's right to be married.  I actually though you might be talking about the OP's right to make a fool of himself.  I'm not sure where anyone was saying that people aren't allowed to marry.

My previous post, 3 up from your last one, explains it.

Nah not really.  You're assigning your own "meaning" to what others are saying and constructing a straw man.

Your entire argument runs counter to Article 19 of the UDHR.  The UDHR is also only relevant to the degree to which NZ has signed up to it, and that generally is expressed in the BORA 1990, and you by telling other people what they think and whether they are allowed to think it contravenes both the Freedom of thought, conscience, and expression and the Freedom of expression.

I never said they weren't allowed to think things. You're putting words in my mouth which is rude.

I simply explained why someones opinion can be wrong. Doesn't mean they can't hold an opinion.
