Incredible isn't it? Trump...

It wouldn't surprise me if that thread could get a record for the longest continuous discussion of Trump in one place.

Yea, huge congrats from me as well.

Surprised to find I have just passed my 10th anniversary. At the time, Internet speeds at night were a hot topic! Still see a few of these but, wow, things have really changed for the better.

And not to forget all those tremendously knowledgeable people who selflessly give their time to help. I have learned so much from you all and have encouraged even my non techie friends to get on the site.

Cheers, MF, and best wishes for the next 15 years (bugger, I won't be here to repeat my congrats!!).

Lindsay.

Congrats to GZ, and thanks to @freitasm team for keeping this going for the past 15 years.  It sure is amazing - I'm more of a lurker around, but nevertheless I have leartn heaps from my time on GZ.  Given I've "only" joined in Dec 2005, I'm probably considered a relatively late comer!

Here's to the next 15 years, and more... :)

there was geekzone and nerdthings.co.nz, geekzone is still going :)

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Yes, congrats, I have learned a lot over the years from posting to this forum and it's great to see that the majority of people are quite polite, professional, and moderate in their views!

It's particularly good that GZ is still holding its own in view of the hefty competition from sites like Facebook which are now generating a lot of forum activity.

Congratulations well deserved - this really is one of my favourite forums. Not just for geek stuff, but everything relating to life in New Zealand.

I'm coming up on 10 years myself. Interesting to look back on that first post. It was in response to a new Xnet plan, which I was apparently quite keen on...

0.15 of a cent per megabyte (or $1.54 per gig) daytime rate

  • First 75 gigabytes per month off-peak (midnight to 8am) FREE!
  • 1/4 cent per additional off-peak megabyte (or $2.56 per GB)

By choosing the user profile 'Torrent' you pay $0.0015 per MB (approximately $1.54 per GB) during the on-peak hours of 8am until midnight. In return for this we’ll give you the first 75GB of National and International data used between midnight to 8am FREE!

Looking back from 2018 it seems horrific... I can barely even understand it. Peak, off-peak, national, international, data caps: all things we no longer have to deal with.

Geekzone is probably the single best catalogue of the massive transformation in NZ's internet over these last 15 years. We've gone from laughing stock to something approaching world class. Geekzone there all the way, recording the good, the bad and the ugly :)

My second post was about buying a Dell U2410 monitor. Still using it...
