I solemnly swear that the above "lifestyle" headline was not photoshopped and appeared on The Herald website about 10 minutes ago.  It's gone now.

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11993754

Auckland hit with almost 300 per cent more rain than usual

NIWA reported this afternoon the organisation's climate centre on Auckland's North Shore had recorded 434.6 mm of rain so far this year.

This equated to 36 per cent of the normal annual amount, in just 12 per cent of the year.

So Auckland has had three times as much rain as is normal for this time of year - isn't that 200% more, not 300.

We could just start making the tripe up ourselves:

The New Zealand Herald! Is it a great Newspaper? No.

Are New Zealand papers worth reading? No.

Breaking News! It's raining in Gore.

The NZ Herald - free cat litter tray liner every issue!

A woman in Timaru today complained that the pie she bought was steak and cheese, not mince and cheese. "It's disgusting. I've never been treated like this! They should be ashamed. My friend on social media agreed!

Next - What The Internet Thought of the Hot Pie incident - you'll be amazed!

DarthKermit: Killed paraglider was on reality TV

So f.ing what? undecided

Up there with "Woman who died in car accident was loving mum of 3" etc.

It's stuff that, if it needs printing at all, needs printing in the Hicksville Times Age or whatever the relevant local firelighter is called, not an erstwhile national newspaper. Can you imagine the NYT printing "Farmer who died in Wyoming accident was Dad to 3 girls" on the front page?

"A coffin, mayor, poetry, bagpiper: Beloved bisexual goose's funeral draws community"

Was it really necessary to mention the goose was bisexual in the headline?

it's the same when they list occupations of the person who died or committed a serious crime, what does an  occupation add to the story.

A lot if it is 'former all black'.

You can play one test and get that 'occupation' added on to your drink driving story, assault charge or whatever.
