More "raised eyebrows" than a smile, but yesterday I walked past a car that had a large 240V inverter sitting on the dash... with a 5V stark white iPhone charger plugged into that, charging an associated iPhone.

That method is likely cheaper than buying another official Apple charger. Assuming that Apple even make an official iPhone car charger.

Although still a fail due to the extra power needed Vs just using a car charger.
