Not me. I pay for Geekzone because I value it and I use it all the time. A site I pass through occasionally because a search sent me there is not getting a thing from me on the basis that I just happened to link to it. I am old enough to remember when there was no advertising on the Internet at all, and it still worked perfectly fine. This idea that web sites cannot exist without ads is BS to me. Apart from that, ads are a way of injecting malware into your system. They don't bother mentioning that when they pop over their begging pages.

There are many ways to get around popover annoyances. I keep a javascript switcher extension on my browser and just turn it off when a popover gets in my way. That also turns off videos and other stuff, but it is a good solution when I just want to read something without being bothered. Another extension lets you selectively disable page elements. You can also do this with browser commands.

This, from Amazon:

Me: Hi
I want to order the new Oasis. However, there seem to be several versions (AT&T, Vodafone etc) with little or no explanation as to what the differences are or why I would choose one over the other. The device is to be shipped to me in NZ.
You are now connected to Shreepal from Amazon.com
Shreepal: Hello, my name is Shreepal. I'm here to help you today.
How are you?
Me: Good thanks
Shreepal: Can you please tell me what is the purpose you are purchaseing the device?
Me: To read books.

Kiwifruit packed by supermarket checkout operator at the bottom of bag under denser/firmer items.

And that's despite me placing the kiwifruit second-to-last on the conveyor belt after ~20 other items.

When life gives you crushed kiwifruit, make smoothies...

Common sense is not as common as you think.

Its not like they can use the BS saving plastic excuse now either. I find the whole supermarket process to be a large thing that annoys me.

.... and not just fruit. Squashed bread can be annoying too.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Listening to a lady moaning yesterday because she did not want the local council to make her 12 acres worth three times current value - about $3 million - by revising the zoning "because I don't want neighbours".

Those of us missing the zoning change by a mere 800 metres are not sympathetic.....

Most butters in NZ already taste like Soap before that happens, you'd be lucky to taste the difference. :)

True but easily avoided by never buying butter wrapped in paper.

The fact that replacing my Kindle Oasis with the newest version (due to slowly worsening battery performance) would cost me a painful NZ$850 or so!

You could look into replacing the battery.
A quick google finds them $40 or so.

Well after placing a message in the "What's something small that makes you smile?" forum.....

Well, I guess they aren't coming this afternoon after all!

No phone call to say they are coming today or not or when!

They were due here as of abut 1430hrs, as told by the contractors this morning.

They are only a Communications Company after all! Why can't they phone to save you wasting an afternoon?

Thought things would have improved by now, but I guess they haven't.
