the plumber i called yesterday when i lost all water to the house, he arrived when he said he would, dug up the front yard to find the blockage and laid some new pipe , it took him a hour and a half and he finished just as it was getting dark and the part that really made me smile is he only charged $150 on a emergency call out on Saturday . Restored my faith in tradies.

Going to a theme park with my kids and my 7 year old daughter loving a roller coaster that scared the sh1t out of me. 6 months ago she didn't have the confidence to go on the little kids coasters, now she's loving really fast violent rides

haha, yeah my son is crazy cautious about everything, getting him on rides has been a challenge, but now he loves to ride. My daughter, at 7 wanted to ride the rides I won't even do since she was 3, and I am just happy she is too short :) I have a hair raising next few years ahead me thinks.

You're just fortunate that Auckland doesn't have too many to worry about. We've got an annual pass to this one! Oh well at least it saves me from going on the How to train your dragon ride 15 times in a row...

Not that long ago my wife and I used to travel to locations that had roller coasters, I recall riding Goliath 15 times in a row using single rider passes. I suspect my daughter has this same built in interest.

I must say we had a great time recently in Australia and also Malaysia and Singapore:) My daughter wouldn't ride the kiddie ones, only the biggest ones she was able to ride!

The hypercoasters in Australia were near the limits for me now. I rode once and I didn't feel inclined a second time. Superman was fanastic, ran out of time to ride that more times.

I stayed near Fuji-Q Highland park last year.

If you want insane roller coasters, I recommend that place. I did not go in - I do not think my heart would have stood it - but it would be well worth a visit if you're in Tokyo as it's only a couple of hours outside the city.

Fuji-Q's most famous roller coasters are the following:

Fujiyama, 79 metres tall, 130 km/h,[3] opened in 1996 and was once the world's tallest roller coaster. As of 2007 it is the world's 8th tallest, 5th longest, and 10th fastest roller coaster.

Do-Dodonpa, 52 metres tall, 172 km/h,[4] opened in 2001 and was once the world's fastest roller coaster. As of 2013 it is the 4th fastest in the world but still has the highest acceleration at launch time.

Eejanaika, 76 metres tall, 126 km/h,[5] opened in 2006 and is only the second "4th Dimension roller coaster" ever built (the first being X² at Six Flags Magic Mountain in California). As a "4th dimension" roller coaster its seats can rotate 360 degrees forward or backward in a controlled spin, thus allowing Eejanaika to invert 14 different times, even though the actual track inverts only three times. It surpasses the first built "4th dimension" roller coaster, X², in both height and speed.

Takabisha, opened on 16 July 2011, contains a 121° freefall, as well as seven major inversions over 1000 meters of track, and a drop of 43 meters. As of December 2016, Takabisha holds the world record for the steepest roller coaster in the world. [6][7]

Riding the Goliath, I must say has a long and slow climb which gives you plenty of time to notice how high you are and regret your decision to ride it, followed by a plunge into darkness. Even after 14 times, the climb made me wonder why I kept doing it to myself.

When I go out to struggle bringing the rubbish bin in from the gate (50 meters in the rain in a chair is a pain) and discover my neighbour has brought it up for me. She is awesome.

TIL from the article about our ex PM selling his beach house to the ANZ CE who was just sacked.

The beach house was in a street called "Success Court".

If you were writing some kind of parody about the egocentric and self-congratulatory antics of one-percenters, that street name wouldn't be believable.

Discovering after 4 months of ownership that my lawnmower's got headlamps.
