So much to choose from. I am annoyed by the increasing use of videos on news sites. I do watch videos and I don't object to them as such, but for me they are supplementary, rather than primary. I grew up with print media and that remains my preferred means of acquiring information. Studies have demonstrated that different parts of the brain handle different kinds of inputs in different ways. Information is absorbed better from written sources than video ones. It is quite possible that videos are responsible for declining concentration and IQ. They promote shallowness and superficiality, even if the content is not shallow or superficial. They have a place in news reporting, but I am a fan of the written word and it annoys me to see it increasingly displaced by unnecessary talking heads.

Agreed. There's also a trend for reference-style material to be presented as a video, which is a nightmare when you're trying to skip to the bit that's relevant. And don't forget to like and subscribe, because obviously if you needed to refer to one piece of information, you clearly want to be bombarded with other technical information from the same source!

Or websites (incl news sites) that make a video out of about 2-3 images with a slow zoom on each one. Just upload them as images and a slide show!!!!

And videos on news sites should *never* autoplay.

Plus 100 to that. It's most infuriating when you're reading an item when some video starts autoplaying and you have to scroll to find the offending video to stop it.

Raised road crossings that are not marked as pedestrian crossings, yet some pedestrians treat them like such. Also some drivers stop to let waiting pedestrians to cross as if they were a marked pedestrian crossing.

The Hamilton City Council think they're a great idea. Some new ones have just been installed at the round a bout on the Grey St/Te Aroha St intersection. Car crossing in front going left to right, promptly stops at the raised crossing at the exit of the round a bout promptly blocking the entrance to the round a bout for cars entering from its left.

Dumb idea especially since most motorists and pedestrians don't know the road rules.

Plenty of those in Whakatane. The council has recently painted yellow marks on some of the roundabouts to remind drivers that they're not allowed to stop there, but those marks are often ignored.

There is no plan for live rugby World Cup coverage in rural areas.

Freeview and sky satellite cover the whole country, but internet coverage (fast and cheap enough to stream) does not. There is simply no way for a lot of NZ to see games beyond the all blacks ones on TV1.

And on that note, there was quite a lot of compression on the TV1 HD coverage also 🤔

Sometimes the site asks whether I want notifications, but often it's the *browser* asking me. That means that the site has declared "you will receive notifications!" and the browser's last line of defence is kicking in. I always say No to that!

I agree, Never, is never offered as an option. Yes, there may be other ways to achieve this, but it's pretty arrogant to think no one will never want notifications and therefore not offer the option to opt out.
