Firefox did weird stuff with the editor till I allowed tracking stuff on geekzone. Perhaps its that causing it to not load some of what it needs to work?

freitasm: I always use Chrome latest and Windows latest... And it just works (TM). I would say it's something on your laptop - a group policy somewhere.

Perhaps; although there are minimal policies, and it's not domain joined either; it's a BYOD-style device - provided by the employer; had an imaged OS dropped on it, but the local user has full admin rights.

I can check "gpresult" output, I guess....

Well, that's annoying - it's now working perfectly well on my home WiFi.

The work WiFi is an Enterprise WiFi with a user-based cert for authentication, so when I switched users and tethered to my phone, I sort-of assumed that it would be using the tethered connection; but given I "switched user" rather than logging out, I guess it's possible it was still using the Enterprise WiFi, and that's proxied (transparently) as far as I know.

More testing tomorrow, I guess!

Ok, this is now in the officially weird area; and I consider it a Chrome bug which I may well post on their support forums.

Basically, TinyMCE editor menus/features stop working on my tablet PC when the physical keyboard/mousepad is removed; despite there being USB-connected mouse and keyboard attached.  The TinyMCE features work when touched on the touchscreen.

For some reason (yet to be understood), Chrome is literally not passing the USB mouse clicks into the underlying elements when the physical keyboard is not present.  As far as I can tell, the device is NOT running in "Tablet Mode".

The tablet is an HP Pro X2 612 G2.

This behaviour is just odd; and didn't appear to be impacted by any of the chrome flags that include "touch"; there may be a flag somewhere, but I've wasted enough time on this already...

I just need to remember to touch the elements on the screen OR just keep the keyboard attached and rearrange my desk and/or life, I guess.

I've sent you a PM earlier today. Please create a new topic on Geekzone sub-forum as this is probably not to continue here.

The use of sex and gender interchangeably.  Crudely speaking based on a wide range of definitions for gender: Sex is biological.  Gender is identity/role/social.

Not disputing the validity of either term, but they shouldn't really be confused.

This is prompted by the fact I'm currently watching a biologist giving a presentation, and referring to the gender of bivalve shellfish (mussel oysters etc) ... i.e. arguing that bivalve shellfish identify with a particular gender- they don't have a brain or central nervous system.

Like many words, ‘gender’ has several meanings. The sociologist uses ‘gender’ to reference an identity/role/social. The biologist uses ‘gender’ in a scientific context to identify all of the members of a set, according to sex. In the example cited, the biologist is using the word correctly.

When it's raining in the city, you don't have an umbrella, trying to walk under an overhang, and people with umbrellas are hugging the building.
