I actually expected a dragon spear to go straight through Tyrion.

Surprised he lived...

There is obviously a fair bit of internal conflict in these characters. Love/Hate.

I was sad to see Missandei killed. It was quite the tense scene. I actually thought Cersi was going to push her off the wall. I had wondered if she pushed her and the dragon saved her.

I am still wondering if Bran is going to save the day related to his "visit" elsewhere during the prior battle. Wouldn't surprise me to see the makers of the Night King produce an army for the 3 eyed raven. He's still there, so he definately has a part to play.

I don't think the Brienne/Jamie story is going to end well, probably for Jamie I suspect.

2 more ep's to go. I wonder if next ep is the big battle and the final ep is the settling of who finally sits on the Iron Throne and tying up of storylines of the different characters. Is the final ep 2 hours long?

OMG how useless these dragons are. I can't believe Danarian did not fly behind the ships and did not burned them. How bloody lame is that?

Smaug had better protection :)

Yeah, agreed. I was thinking that as well. Even worse she made like she was going to take her chances and smoke them and chickened out.

Still trying to work out how she controls them :) No reigns. Perhaps she is telepathic.

People obviously pay more attention than I do. Someone noticed that a takeaway starbucks coffee cup was left on a table in one of the first scenes of last nights episode.

Loving all the theories :).

I just had to post how <bleep> <bleep> and shocked I was how easy it was for a god-damned pirate to take out a Dragon.

Seriously?

Not only would it be almost impossible to aim those ballistae from a rocking ship, even in calm waters, and the recoil effect of firing one would destabilize the ship even further - but to hit a moving/flying dragon, multiple times - and for those to pierce dragon armor - first through the chest where armor is theoretically the thickest... just made me so god-damned disappointed.

I do realize I'm applying real world physics to a world that has Dragons - and I'm applying lots of generic fantasy 'knowledge' about dragons that may not apply to the same in Westeros - but still!

I literally spilled my cuppa because my hand flailed around as I was having my wt<bleep> moment, and I paused it for maybe five minutes when it got to the beach scene... just to calm down a bit... and make another cuppa.

As it stands at the end of that episode I honestly wish I'd left it with Season 8 Episode 3 as my finale.

The dragons are/were the nuclear weapons of Westeros - to see them so sidelined really spoils the series for me.

If this doesn't literally end with the remaining dragon toasting and eating Cersei like a snack...

Yeah I must admit I feel the same way. 2/3 of the dragons went down so easily. Considering the fuss made for 6 seasons about them.....

Gotta agree, the Dragons this season have been pretty useless.

I wonder if the writers have plans for them other than just a distraction.

My wife is sure that in the trailer for Ep 5, there was a hint to Rheagar still being alive. I hope so, but can't see it, he looked pretty dead to me.

The problem with having Dragons as super weapons is the makes the story boring.

Danni gets grumpy and burns 100,000 people while killing Cersi - story over.

This way we get some tension and interest for the last two episodes.

Yes I am sad the Dragons are failing after their build up, but really 3 dragons are not going to conquer the land if the enemy is prepared. 3 vs many, they will fail at some stage.
(But yes - why the F*** did she not out maneuver those sailing ships! - her armies and navies tactics are very poor)

Yeah, I do get that 3 dragons could have made the story very homum, but I think they did that anyway, by making them dead so easily.

A bit more of a fight seemed on the cards.

Honestly, seeing some of the strategic decisions by Danni and Jon in the past 2-3 Episodes, I can't really get my head around either of them sitting on the Iron Throne.

Yet another episode that was really disappointing for me.  Firstly, they messed around with the time/distance thing again.  Sitting up in Winterfell they decide to head off to Kings Landing almost the very next day after the battle with the Night King, with Danaerys and the fleet travelling to White Harbour, and Jon and the ground forces taking the Kingsroad.  Minutes later, Dany and the dragons are in a battle with Euron, with Rhaegal being shot down, and her fleet destroyed by the ballistas.  After seasons where the time to travel any kind of distance takes several episodes, they now have developed teleportation???

And even more infuriating, they don't bother to coordinate their forces (they say Jon is still two weeks away on the Kingsroad when Dany is fighting Euron).  If the dragons and fleet can move so fast, why not stay behind in Winterfell and recuperate until the grounds forces are closer to the target?  Or maybe, I dunno, do some recon rather than just plodding along waiting to be attacked by another fleet?

I'm also disappointed with the way the dragons have performed in this and the previous season.  While I get what others have said about the dragons being the "nuclear" weapon that would make the story boring if they were invincible, they've gone too far the other way.  They talked historically about how the Targaryens conquered the seven kingdoms with dragons (Harrenhal being a perfect visual example of what dragons can do), yet 2/3 of the dragons have been taken out by a single person.  Admittedly one was by a supernatural being with immense power and a magical ice spear, but the other was a guy with an oversized crossbow.  The dragons (and their riders) showed little ability to manoeuvre and avoid incoming fire.  If Tyrion can dodge several ballista shots on a boat, surely Rhaegal can swerve around a bit?  And when Dany decides to play chicken with Euron she just pulls out at the last minute (showing those manoeuvres are possible), instead of screaming "dracarys" and flaming not only the incoming bolts, but the ballista, the boat, and Euron all at once.

I get that it's no fun if she can just burn everyone and everything in her way - they strategise as much when they talk about taking King's Landing without destroying it; it's hard to rule people when you destroy their capital - but the opposite is equally un-fun.  Seeing these ultimate weapons being neutered so easily makes a mockery of the past seven seasons of build-up.  Just like with the Night King last week, it's almost as if they are clearing the board of all the epic things they have built-up, and the final will just be Dany and Cersei having a hair-pulling cat fight in the Throne Room...

Well with my rant about Dragons over with here are my predictions:-

Arya's going to try to kill Cersei - possibly with her drop the dagger trick and it isn't gonna work. Dead.

Hound's going to fight his brother and win. But probably not without mortal wounds. Dead.

Jamie's going to be all conflicted about killing Cersei but is probably going to try anyway, and die at the end of Brienne's blade. Dead.

Dany's going to find out that Jon has told everyone and his dog that he's a Targaryan and her dragon's going to get some well deserved munchie munchie time. Jon dead. Dany a bit teary at first, but she'll get over it.

Greyworm's going to go all Rambo and sneak in and kill a bunch of people before being decapitated. Dead

Tyrion's going to go hide in the <bleep>house the moment he gets into the city and live a short but happy life before the guards find him. Dead. (seriously Mauricio the word-censorship on here is ott).

Tyrion's also going to call out Varys on his treachery. Varys dead. Possibly more Dragon munchies.

And this is more wish than prediction, but Dragon chomps on Cersei and Dany takes the iron throne.

Sansa takes an arrow to the eye the moment she steps out of winderfel for being the most annoying weak character in the whole series. But again that's probably wishful thinking - she'll likely let Cersei and Dany wipe each other out, then roll up with the remainder of the north's armies and take over.

@grimwulf those are pretty close to my predictions. I do suspect Tyrion will live a bit longer.

@networkn Great minds ;) You may well have subconsciously influenced my thinking. But then I certainly didn't call the Dragon neutering in this last episode so I clearly have no clue. I guess that's the fun part.

Also fun is how involved I (and we) all are in this - when was the last time you were so involved re: a TV show...
