This is a VERY FAST Porsche:

It is still one of the fastest accelerating cars in the world, with a recorded time of 2.2 seconds (compared with Porsche's official claim of 2.5 seconds) and was the first series production car to go under 7 seconds around the Nürburgring Nordschleife track.

Most cars take over 7 minutes. I want one.

20.8km/7 sec = 3km/sec = 10,800kph. Given you have to accelerate and decelerate, that's 3000m/s / 3.5s = 857m/s/s = 87G (worse at the Carraciola-Karussell)

Probably had to turn up the downforce on his aero kit to achieve this; tricky at transsonic speeds.

Nope. Anyone with a reasonable grasp of NCEA level 2 Maths (and possibly level 1) would be able to pass this. IQ is more than maths skills. Still I guess even basic algebra is like black magic to some journalists.

Bethells resident Julie Stirling's internet connection was similar to that of a 1990 dial-up – the slowest connection in New Zealand.

"And that's on a good day," Stirling said.

"I can't watch anymore than 8 seconds of a video clip before it goes into an endless cycle of caching. Watching a movie would not be possible, even at 4am."

I'm struggling to find information on how fast dialup was in 1990 but I'm going to guess somewhere around 9.6 or 14.4 kb/s. Eight seconds of YouTube video at the lowest quality setting is 150 kilobytes, so she must have the patience of a saint to wait ~90 seconds for that initial buffering.

If she's truly getting 1990 speeds from an ADSL connection then she should switch to 56 kb/s dialup... but I bet she's exaggerating. The article goes on to say that her neighbours have a "full-speed" connection so what's the bet that it's her house wiring?

And although we didn't witness the Model 3 testing in these conditions, it's safe to assume that that's exactly what this white example is here for given it was photographed on the winding publicly accessible road up to the test facility.

Further driving the point home is the fact that it's a left-hand drive variant — complete with a Californian number plate still attached to the boot-lid.

Hmmm, So your "first" is almost exactly a year after the last model 3 came to NZ for testing at the SHPG

There is definitely one, possibly two, Tesla Model 3s in New Zealand …. and it’s been snow testing in a not so secret location here in New Zealand.

That sounds bad until you get almost to the end of the ~~drama~~ story and you find

Reid said she and the camera operator had walked back the 400m to the hotel from their spot on the Champs Elysees after the crowds had left but there had not been enough time for the tear gas to disappear and they walked through it.
