Email from Consumer today:

We are writing to let you know that we are increasing our prices. We haven’t done this for five years.
From 1 October, the cost of your yearly Consumer membership will increase from $99.95 to $100.

Jeez - inflation is outta control!

Having a maturing Term Deposit to reinvest today, going to the bank's website first thing this morning and finding they had misquoted/typo-ed some of the rates. Their four- and five-year rates which should have been 2.6% pa were showing as 3.6%. Jumped in quickly. Their TD rates page has now been taken down 'for maintenance' until 3 Sept.

That both of the Netherlands' Euro qualifiers over the next week are being broadcast live on Sky.

Great news! It's not something small, but definitely something to smile about!

Getting 5 x UVC tubes for my pond filter today.

Only 11 days from order to delivery!

Cost NZ$25 for all 5 including delivery!

(Was paying about $60 each here plus delivery!)

I really smiled when the parcel arrived, and all tubes are intact.

Yes, it is. You tend to slip into a fug of comfortable forgetfulness (well, as much as taking a zillion tablets twice a day and blood tests every 6 weeks or so enables forgetfulness!) until the scans roll round and the letters drop on the doormat from the imaging department. Then all the worries resurface for a while.

The Memsahib likens me to a duck - all calm above the surface but paddling like **** underneath!

I'm finally out of my sh*try rental with a horrible landlord. He stung me for a fair bit of the bond but at least we can move on.

New Zealand tenancy laws ain't perfect but they are so much better than Dubai's.
