I don't get it.

Mail being delivered and couriers still delivering. Even though they may be keeping a 2 metre distance how do they know the parcel or letter isn't contaminated. It's just nuts.

I know by that same measure we could pick up contamination at the supermarket but we should be reducing the avenues of transmission to a minimum.

If we were doing that, we’d have locked the borders 4 weeks ago or so and have no cases....

Correct, we've been too slow to act.

I note Rob Fyfe took a swing at the government at the end this article published on the 19th of March. He questioned the time it was taking to implement action and the fact at that stage it was still considered OK for tourists to be arriving in New Zealand.

Delivery notifications from Aliexpress telling me an order is arriving soon, or has been delivered. Delivered to my work which is closed up with no-one in the office.

Going to the supermarket dressed like this and trying distance myself appropriately, while idiots lean across me or walk straight at/toward me with no thought for social distancing.

That Doom Eternal is $120 digitally when it was only $99 to buy physically in store which required shipping and all the other things. It's even $120 on PC!!!

I know it's only $20, I can afford it, but I resent it.

Yep. Plus you can resell the physical one (at least on consoles) when you've finished with it, and it won't disappear in X years' time when somebody loses the licence.

I bet he wouldnt have been happy to close the border 4 weeks ago if he was still the ceo of ANZ...

I would wagger the board of directors (nor sharemarket) wouldnt have been happy either if he had called for the border to be closed.

PaknSave deciding that switching off the ShopnGo scanners would be a good response.

Surely giving each scanner a disinfectant wipe after each use would only add a few seconds to the normal process of returning them to the wall.
But no, they'd rather make everyone join the checkout queue, stand face to perspex with a checkout operator who handles every single item you are buying and put it into a second trolley to the one you've been pushing round the supermarket.

Not the cleverest plan.

Actually, I think he would still have been advocating for it if he had been CEO of Air New Zealand. Like him or not Rob Fyfe was a leader at Air NZ who was prepared to do the right thing and be prepared to to go face to face with those affected and explain why.

He could see the longer we dillied and dallied with our response the longer the recovery would be and have far greater consequences both in economic terms and the number of victims  than would have been the case if we had acted with more authority sooner.

As it is now we are going to pay a far higher price for not acting sooner. I see the government is saying we could hit 4000 infections with a 1% mortality rate before things start to improve. If we had started 2 weeks earlier it is very likely our infection rate would have peaked by now. As of yesterday we had just under 400 cases of infection, 10% of what they are now predicting.

You only need to look at the likes of Singapore to see the benefits of prompt and enforced actions.

The email they sent also say s

During this time we will be delivering appliances but we are unable to install or remove existing appliances at this stage.

That isn't much good if you are ordering something heavy like a fridge, washing machine etc , and it is often the heavy things that are essentials. So getting it inside and installing it could be impossible for many. I would have thought the email would say how people are supposed to deal with moving and installing the essential appliance.
