Try opening a dispute when an item that should last for 10 years craps out just after the disputes window closes. In the case of my LED lights, I had all kinds of failures, some out of the box, some after a few days, some after several weeks. Some were failed LEDs, some capacitors and other components. They were purchased from a range of different suppliers. I had no way of knowing which were from who so I had to just swallow the loss. I suppose I could have marked each bulb with the supplier when I installed them, but who does that?

I just had something from China arrive "EMS Express" in 13 days. I paid $3 for 'Economy Shipping from China/Hong Kong/Taiwan to worldwide'. Pretty good.

Well my parcel has just left Singapore for Auckland today.

Took a month with AliExpress Standard Shipping to get from China to Singapore.

That's definitely not normal. What does the tracking number look like? I suspect it's been sent via other means.

I suspect is is as Singapore Post one! Ends in SG.

Website shows shipped via AE Standard Shipping - who knows how things work now!

AliExpress was always the Wild West of Mail Order.

Yesterday I received an item I purchased on Aliexpress on Jan 6th. The label on the packge stated "If undeliverable return to: ZAMBIA POST". The country of origin is also stated as Zambia. Inside was a second packge. This time with a return address in Malaysia. Each package had a different tracking number. So the package started off in China, went to Malaysia, then to Zambia and ended up in New Zealand. I can only assume that a ton of packages were dumped into a bin labelled "NEW ZEALAND" and my one fell onto the floor. Some guy walks by, sees it on the floor and tosses it into the closest bin - bound for ZAMBIA.

Anyway, I guess there is still hope for anyone still waiting on an order placed at the start of Covid. Maybe in a few days I'll receive the order I placed on Jan 10th?

Hey @Journeyman I have EXACTLY the same situation as you, around the same timeframes too! In my case, the item was ordered circa 16th Jan, posted / shipped on 17th Jan according to AliExpress. I waited until end March (I think it was just before we went into L4 lockdown) before opening a dispute and received my refund. I completely forgot about it, then suddenly over the past week the items turned up - that’s 2 items over 2 days! and each had 2 packagings inside - one with a Malaysian address (paper envelope) inside a plastic packaging with a Zambia post address. So it looks like it is not unique to your situation...

My parcel was delivered by CourierPost last night!

A month to get to Singapore, then a week from there to me.

(Same supplier / AliExpress Standard Shipping was Pre-Covid about 14 days from order to delivery)

Looks like they get sent to

UCL Co Ltd
Po Box 210075
Laurence Stevens Drive

In bulk and then get repackaged and sent out via NZ Post

The Aliexpress Page says it took off in a plane and is still there.

After many purchases over time I have stopped buying from AliExpress. Two things tipped me over the edge: The first was dozens of LED light bulbs with a failure rate of at least 50% (so far). Some are DOA, some stop working in various ways after a few days or weeks. They are cheap, useless rubbish with zero quality control. I don't understand why anyone even bothers making something with such crap components.

The second thing is the terrible, frustrating, stupid, limited automated feedback systems with no way to contact a human in charge, and useless emoji responses when you do. Who needs this agro just to save a few bucks?

i think it also depends on the type of items purchased... for instance, i have received an rj45 crimping tool that was only good for about 5 plugs, but the next one (different make/model), i still use.

with led bulbs, i got a milight rgb led (from aliexpress) over 5 years ago that still works and in regular use, whereas 3 of the 4 viribright ones i got from bunnings around the same time lasted a month.
