I'm really disappointed at how little rain fell here. I was hoping for a decent soaking.

Yes, us too. 41mm here - not enough to make a difference to the tanks.

Unfortunately most of the weather forecasts come via the media ... the NZ Herald for example said yesterday would be "heavy showers" in Auckland, but the worst we got around here was continual minor drizzle.

Of course having a forecast for such a large area is rather ridiculous and will never be accurate ... there may well have been "heavy showers" somewhere in the widespread "Auckland" region.

Warm here to in the Hawkes Bay was damn warm all last night aswell we had a little bit of rain in Napier/Hastings but lots of wind and here's my cell phone telling me to expect snow flurries errrr WTF

Try Karaka between 8am and about 11.30am . Real heavy showers..

Don't understand why some people are so upset at the weather forecasters.

Lusi killed three people in the islands, was the only named storm on earth at the time and was headed directly towards us. Yes storms dissipate, we were lucky, but what if it had not?

We already know a kid was swept out to sea in Auckland, it is not wrong for the weather forecasters studying a multivariate and ever changing systems to use caution.

No thanks. Not really interested in myths, ghosts, angels, visiting space aliens, and other similar imaginary nonsense. An accurate forecast of the Lotto numbers on the other hand ... ;-)

I agree. It was an approaching cyclone, and here in ChCh it was warned we could have 100mm rain, but if it turned away, just 30mm and thats what happened. MetService also advised that some areas may be okish and others can be hit hard and they were. Tress were down, and on power lines and some houses, and a couple of thousand lost power. It probably weakened a tickle more than expected, and most got away without a bad storm.

Unlike you, my friend, I would be happy to settle for probability of 100% correct 10% of the time. ; ).
