Oh, that's quite brilliant, especially as that definitely versus defiantly autocorrect problem is one of my favourites... It's all rather EMBARRASSING!

That is why I politely ask people to proofread what they write, especially those who are paid to write in newspapers and magazines.

Unfortunately you really need someone else to proofread your stuff - unless you put it down and come back to it a (long) while later it's very easy to read what you expected to write, rather than what you actually wrote.

Agree - and if you want to see some truly awful writing that really needed a proofreader/editor's eye (and red pencil) before going to print, try reading the Ford Focus review in the latest M2 magazine.

Is it just me, or has this thread gone completely off topic here (or there...)?

But following on from some of these comments, I was watching player interviews from the rugby match (think it was Julian Savea?), the expression "you know" or "y'know" seemed to prop up a lot.. The whole time I was thinking to myself - no, I don't know actually...

Also, "Yea definitely" is a favourite. I love that segment they have on the Crowd Goes Wild. But I guess it's related to poor questioning from the Journos...

Actually the topic it started with was something else but it doesn't really matter. Writing 'prop' when you mean 'pop' seems to fit well, though.

wow! so you know how I think? That's kinda creepy.. so what am I thinking now...?

Personally I thought it was a clever play on words... Guess I should have pointed that out more clearly. My apologies.

It's hard to even say that wrong, if you know how it should be pronounced. Like, you know, its a weird sound that's actually quite hard to make in practice, like it literally grinds a hole in your throat doin it.

Kids nowadays loves saying "Me and my friends" etc.

I was always taught to put myself last when referring to myself in a sentence. Ie, "My friends and I".

Nowadays I'm really not sure which one is grammatically correct. It was more a case of just common courtesy.
