NZ Couriers.

A week after leaving multiple packages at our front door in full view of everyone walking and driving past they left a card yesterday saying "you were out".

I was in the garage at the end of the driveway. I watched him drive the 30m down our driveway and stop in front of the garage next to our car.

Our son was in the house so I thought nothing of it until I walked out two minutes later to find out what it was.

The courier hadn't knocked, just a the card at the back door and drove off.

I immediately phoned them and said come back but he claimed he was already on his way back to the warehouse and I could collect from the depot 35kms away the following day.

networkn:

The 4000% markup on bottled water.

We bottle our own. We purchased a filter and reuse bottles so no mark up and no waste products. It is surprisingly therapeutic to once a week to fill the bottles.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Rising-clamp connectors and stranded wiring. Because putting stranded wiring into screw terminals is risky, and even illegal in some jurisdisctions for higher-voltage stuff, I crimped the wiring and screwed in the bootlace crimps instead.

Except that with the way the rising clamp works it pushes the connector out of the terminal block as you tighten it. So a ten-minute job took about an hour of faffing around and swearing to get done.

Now for the second job, redoing the paint that was peeled off the wall due to the running commentary while I was doing it...

Rats......especially when they start gnawing through your waterpipes, resulting in having to cut holes in ceilings (mostly in the garage thankfully) and plumbers bills.

Caught the little b*******d.  I won't insert a photo but it's here if anyone is interested.

I was tempted to post this in the Smile thread but I'm a little concerned there may be more than one.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

Web sites that badger you to sign up for their newsletter 🤦‍♂️. I thought pop-ups were a thing of the past but NOPE, every website wants to you to sign up for their crappy newsletter!

Yeah, you buy one small thing or even just look at their website and they want to be your best friend for the rest of your life.

I also noticed yesterday when trying to track a package that DHL's site now goes to a modal "privacy preferences" page instead of giving you your results. The purpose of the tracking page, its reason to exist, is to track a package. It no longer does that and instead pesters the user. Do these companies even think about what they're doing before they do it?

NZ Couriers.

This gets better.

It was rescheduled to be delivered yesterday. No one turned up.

So today we drove the 25km to the warehouse to find a note on the window "We're now closed between 12-12:45"

Utter shambles.

@floydbloke If there's no bait left in the trap you have more than one. Trap kills one, then his mate eats all the bait from the (now safe) trap.

A "black tie dinner" at an event being hosted to celebrate diversity and innovation in a community.

Utter morons.  No thanks.

Sock sizes.

I wear an 11 or 12 shoe (UK sizing), but have to buy size 6-10 socks because if I get the bigger ones the heel is way up on the back of my ankle.

I can't think of anything less diverse or innovative in a clothing sense than "black tie".

Nothing at all apparently - if you're white/wealthy, conservative, and smug.
