Now this is very interesting for those who care: JJ Abrams have just stated that Rey's parents are NOT in Episode VII ... That pretty much rules out Luke. Is Obi Wan in Ep VII or is he not?

I think the theory is that she is Obi-Wan's granddaughter. At any rate, he cannot appear (except as a force apparition) due to a rather serious case of death by lightsaber.

I just can't fathom how it would be Obi Wan. He'd have to have had her after he died, and when Luke was about 35-40 based on her being around 20 in the film. It could be his granddaughter but again they'd have to weave some creative husbandry into the story and I feel like it would add too much baggage.
