Reddit's a particularly weird place, but what are you talking about - a Reddit-wide ban or a being banned from a sub-reddit?  Banned by an auto-moderating bot - or an actual person?.  Banned for use of an offensive term used in jest?

Site-wide ban for three days for a mildly offensive comment in jest...it was regarding Brian Tamaki, so I was probably reported by a supporter.

Edit: It's been quite refreshing to be able to browse Reddit without the ability to comment or up/downvote.

Alternatively many people would regard only mildly offensive comments about Brian Tamaki as inappropriate.

On Tamaki and his ilk - or even some "mainstream" churches - attacking him or his followers tends to reinforce the belief held by them that they're "different" - "chosen" whatever.

Annoying - but probably a reason why churches/religions have been reasonably immune from rational criticism.

I see that an on-line petition has been started saying that so-called 'mega churches' like his should have to pay tax. Sounds good to me - he's pretty much taking the piss when it comes to religion and tax-free status. Hmmm - maybe that's mildly offensive - oh no.

Booked an external house wash via Treatme just prior to level 4. Got rescheduled a couple of times due to the lockdown, then on the new date once back at level 2 it was raining and they didn't notify me they weren't coming until I enquired after the time window we were expecting them had passed. Rescheduled to yesterday and again they didn't turn up and didn't respond to my message all day until 7.30pm last night to say that due to a "technical issue" they would no longer be able to go ahead with it and I should contact Treatme for a refund. Anyone had success getting a refund out of Treatme?

Annoying as we'd quite like to have the house wash done. I appreciate they can't do anything about the weather but they could contact you to let you know they'll have to reschedule, not just not turn up and not be in touch. Can anyone recommend someone reliable for this in Wellington/Lower Hutt?

I would put that down to the fact that their bookings have picked up and they are all at full prices, so they no longer need the Treatme discount customers - which in itself is really annoying and quite against the spirit of how those things are supposed to work.

Should be a badge for that - jesting at Brian Tamaki, not getting a ban.

Double annoyance from me.

At work, Edge was updated on Thursday night and has broken some functionality that we use (we have a custom protocol, where going to apps:123 will open app number 123 via a 'helper' installed on each PC... and this no longer works in Edge, as it now tries to open https://apps on port 123).

That's annoyance 1. Annoyance 2 is that updates are supposedly pushed out to testers beforehand. I have a test machine and mine was working fine on Thursday, then on Friday we had bug reports from multiple 'normal' people. So this particular update was never put out for testing. Of course the untested update breaks things...

I suspect Transmission Gully will simply be a failure. More people will think "Oh, it's ok to drive to Wellington now" and traffic from Porirua to Wellington will just grow a large amount in the morning and more cars will pile up in the city.

At the end, people will complain that is harder now than before - like the "smart motorway" that's anything but.

Reminds me of this clip from the ABC show Utopia

From @mdf on another thread:

Annoyingly, a whole lot of welding supply websites have prices for everything at "POA" or "enquire".

Definitely a "thing that annoys me". It also translates to "Please go to another vendor's web site, we don't want your business".

The stupid question that keeps being asked by media of under your policy how many covid deaths per year would you accept. No one is going to put a figure on that and when it’s not answered with a figure the question is escalated over and over.
