And it’s just fixed itself. Tried again after I posted. It wasn’t working on anyone’s post.

Something small that annoys me is when IT people claim that something has 'fixed itself' because the symptoms of the problem have gone away.

Faulty products don't 'fix themselves'. It's an ongoing intermittent fault until you've determined the underlying cause.

Weird. Tried on another device, network? Does the +1 appear and doesn't work or doesn't appear at all?

I worked in the pharmaceutical industry for >20yrs. This is more an example of the defunct US healthcare system than capitalism. The US healthcare system and how medicines are funded not only encourage manufacturers to take advantage, it actually requires them to!  Too much to go into here, I could write a book on the topic of medicine pricing the US.

True, though I would say (in my unknowledgeable way), capitalism is a pretty good enabler.

Me: goes to website to make booking. Website has fault and won't allow log in. Go to phone and ring company.

Listen to repetitive message telling me that they apologise for the delay and I can visit them online at their website....😤

To expand the point, systems that play the same message over and over again to people on hold. We heard you the first time. Surely it must be possible to design the system to repeat the messages only a couple of times per caller to avoid driving us all nuts?

Eva888: Don’t know if it’s just me but I can’t vote in this thread. Am signed in, have turned iPad on and off. Still can’t vote.

That happened to me in the Smile thread earlier, but reloading the page fixed it. I just successfully upvoted your post in this thread.

The button did nothing for me, as if I hadn't clicked it. iPhone (Safari) with OS 14.8 on Skinny.

I need to order a replacement filter net for my Samsung washing machine. I found a contact number on their website for NZ. The person was very helpful and directed me to samsungnzparts.co.nz. On that site, I find two different products that indicate they are both the item I'm looking for.

No price for each, so I add them to the shopping cart assuming I can then compare the prices there.

There are no links to get to the shopping cart!!!

I try creating an account, thinking that might be necessary to get to the cart. After entering details it takes me to an "Access Blocked" page, with a form to enter my email address and a reason to be added to a list allowing full access.

I try going to samsungnzparts.co.nz/cart/ and amazingly enough I find the page. I proceed to checkout and, after entering details, click "Place Order" so that I can proceed to enter my card details. I get a message "Error processing checkout. Please try again." 😢

Calling the number on the parts site tells me they are only open 9-5 Monday to Friday, and 9-1 on Saturday.

Sorry didn't notice the response. Seemed to be the same as Behoder below as it was on my old iPad Safari which runs iOS 14.8 as well. Button +1 was showing but unresponsive to clicking. Didn’t think to check it on the newer iPad with iOS15. Not a problem anymore anyway thanks.

That while searching for "Courtney Cox", Google insists that I must be looking for "Courteney Cox", and shows me results for her instead.

Even when I tell it show results for my original search query, it still shows multiple hits to some washed-up tv actress as opposed to the amazing musician I was searching for.

Considering I've been logged in to YouTube and watching The Iron Maidens all evening, you'd think...AI my a$$.

Yep, Google tries to be clever and fails miserably.

I was trying to figure out why some Windows 10 PCs at work have a "Startup" folder in the Start Menu, and others have "Start-up". Even when I put "start-up" in quotes, Google still searches for "startup".

If you use "" as in "Courtney Cox" Google will ask if you are looking for Courteney Cox but the rest of the results are exactly what entered inside the quotes. That's how it works.

I thought that was the case too, however:

Scrolling down gives me Courteney's Wikipedia page, suggestions to other friend's cast members and the "People also ask..." which includes a range of questions that have the spelling I was looking for, but link to the friends character instead.

Four more cards about Friends, then the instagram, Twitter and FB page for the musician, followed by five search results for the actress round out the page. To be fair on Google, the Daily Mirror and Independent UK have both spelt the actress's name wrong, so two of the five results are accurate in accordance with the search term, but still refer to the wrong person.
