That people start growing plants on their balconies everywhere in the city and you can smell the BBQs (mainly electrical because of their compactness and smoke prevention) currently every evening :-)

Set up my almost 85YO FIL with a new iPad and Skinny 4g modem.  He's not tech savvy and never showed any interest - but has a "non-smart" large button flip phone that he's managed to use for texts etc - so it was worth a shot.  So far so good - I think he's got the gist of making / receiving messenger video calls, reading the news etc.  I've chucked some game apps - solitaire etc - on it, he needs to get used to using a touch interface.  He bought himself an "Ipad for seniors" magazine at the gas station, he's overwhelmed but very excited about the whole thing.  We should have probably pushed him into doing this years ago.

How much my eight year old loves getting nude and shaking her booty at us. If it carries on in 5 years time I'll be concerned but for now it's an endless source of amusement for her.

My parents are both 80 and have iPads...my mum basically does Facebook, Messenger and solitaire or mahjong on hers. I also occasionally have FaceTime calls with her thumb or nose - I don't think she's ever worked out where the camera is...

Dad browses the internet and "accidentally" buys things online.

I think the user interface for iPads is perfect for seniors who are not tech savvy, if you keep the apps simple and arranged on one page. THy've both read the "iPads for Seniors" magazine. They gave it a hearty thumbs up.

What made me smile this week was having a fellow Geekzoner (you know who you are) reach out to me to see if I was OK, as a few comments I have made about being unhappy working from home and being isolated from the world gave him pause for thought about my welfare.

For the record - I am OK...I just have days when I feel a bit melancholy.

Thanks for being a really supportive and inclusive community, Geekzone. Bunch of absolute legends!

Seeing an ad for a solid state disk drive. In the specs it says rotational speed is 7200 RPM.

Watching my Son bring up not one, but TWO Kingfish at the same time on his beginner Rod his first time ever Sea fishing on a boat. Both undersized, but in 30 years of periodic fishing, I've never caught one.

The captain of the charter boat was just fantastic as well, super friendly, super helpful, made our weekend!

More fishy tales. This appeared on my FB newsfeed - most of the people replying clearly didn't understand that trolling isn't permitted on the Mataura River:

I went to a party (only about a dozen people, but that was enough) on Saturday night.

First human interaction with non-family since mid-March.

I hugged everyone and had a little cry. They thought I was a bit odd, but they have always thought that.

I was VERY excited to socialise.
