I am after a laptop for simple home use. Can anyone recommend any on sale on this site. Looking at the 3 under 600 but cant see if the ram can be extended. We have samsung phones so was looking at the samsung one but it seems to be only going upto 4gb ram.Am I correct in thinking an 8 gb capcity will future proof it more. Will be using for small scale photos, itunes, possibly runing through the tv if I can work out how to do it, no gaming. Apreciate any advice. Thanks

We got some cheap 24 inch Samsung monitors nothing to write home about but we were due to upgrade 3 so these were a good choice as we only usually find 22 or 23inch for that money.

Got my son a wacom bamboo pen tablet that he was requesting for some time. Was about to buy off from Amazon for around US$170. Got it from PBTech for NZ$144.

They were only down to ~$440, so they were cheaper a couple weeks back when they had them on sale at $397 or something, but it was still good enough to justify imo. The Gen8s are out, so I don't think these 7s will be around that much longer, and represent good value imo. The 8s are of course much higher spec, but still don't support hardware RAID5 which I feel is the biggest failing. Most stuff wasn't at a significant discount, to be honest, but there were a few really good deals floating around.

I actually prefer software raid over hardware raid, in the event of motherboard failure if you use zfs for example, it's completely portable to another system as long it's the same zfs level

Any decent controller can do some sort of import/rebuild. But anyway, let's not derail the thread too much ;)

Somewhat annoying, since they advised me only 2 days ago they were out of stock with no ETA on more, hah.
