No, we're not *THOSE* kinds of pirates!

We don't pillage sailing ships for booty while waving cutlasses about (ok, maybe sometimes we do for fun...).

Neither do we provide downloading of material that is breaking the law (what you do in your own home however is up to you, but we're not an organisation which is willfully breaking the law on a large scale, rather we're seeking laws to be changed).

But we are concerned about the length of copyright and the way it is policed, along with a number of other tech related issues (patents, privacy, and so on).

Or short/medium term goals are:
1) make our tech issues be part of the regular national political discussion
2) get party votes & members
3) have fun along the way!

Longer term goals.... MPs? ;-) The Pirate Party movement is the youngest and fastest growing political movement in the world, with dozens of pirate parties across the world, with pirates elected to all kinds of positions from Mayor to national level MPs, to EU MPs.

Now I've done our little intro, here is the info about next Friday:

A chance for Auckland (& visiting) pirates & newcomers to put a face to online handles! Drink grog and discuss piratey politics, meet old friends and make new ones.

Also, an opportunity to get signatures for our IncSoc document.

Location: Spitting Feathers (an English Pub)
16 Wyndham Street, Auckland

Should you need help finding us, here is my number (David Peterson / Mathmo , VP of PPNZ): 0274602025

Google Maps is also handy (broad directions is it is in central Auckland, on a street just off Queen St):

This may be considered off topic, but only just. (watch until the end, the story develops)

Will there be a special appearance by Michael Bolton?

I'm not a complete idiot, I still have some parts missing.
