Hi There!

My wife and I have been together since we were 17, nearly 20 years and married for 10 Years this year, and I thought I'd like to surprise her with a weekend away from myself and the kids.

We are based in Auckland but a small amount of travel would likely be ok.

I am trying to find a place that has nice accommodations, has Spa treatments, room service, and a swimming pool. I'd like to keep the per night cost to under $200 but I can be flexible if it's a great place. Obviously that excludes consumables like massages etc.

Anyone recommend a place?

I'm not sure if it'll fit your budget, but I'd recomment the Langham Hotel - see if you can get a special deal on one of their Chuan Spa experiences.

Looks great, there is a bundle special for $750 a night, but everything is for two. Perhaps she could take her boyfriend :)

Upon reflection, yes I agree, both grammatically and by inference that didn't read as it was intended.

What about somewhere like Rotorua? Easy drive from Auckland, and some nice places to stay that meet your requirements

I recommend holiday at Waiheke.

Anyway, IMO it does not make sense to 'celebrate alone'.

If it was me, I will make it a family outing (i guess everyone is different)

Me too, wouldn't want to go alone. Maybe minus the kids tho.

Honestly, if it were me, I'd be surprised, thrilled, and then bored as hell without anybody else with me. The sentiment is lovely, but I suspect she'll spend a lot of time wondering about you and the kids and never relaxing properly. I agree with others who have suggested a family outing, or if you wanted to get romantic ditching the kids and going somewhere with her.
