It was a joke. Seriously though I've already told them about this on Twitter last month.

As usual in large NZ companies (except telcos), they only pay attention to people saying good things. Anything that's bad or a fault they simply ignore.

Maybe they should just place this in their /etc/init.d/ folder:

( /etc/init.d/ntp stop
until ping -nq -c3 8.8.8.8; do
echo "Waiting for network..."
done
ntpdate -s nz.pool.ntp.org
/etc/init.d/ntp start )&
