It is now getting literally warmer every year.

To avoid more than 2C of warming now we would basically all have to park our fossil fuel cars tomorrow and never drive them again. Everyone. Everywhere.

Even that wouldn't solve it. You would have to also say no more air travel, no more industrial heat (steelmaking, plastics, factory food like bread ect), At least a 50% reduction probably more like 80% reduction in worldwide electricity use. No more cheap readily available fertiliser.

In otherwords fossil fuels supply a vast amount of the worlds energy, And are inputs to lots of industrial and chemical processes. About the only thing that could ever provide enough cheap energy to replace fossil fuels - Nuclear Fusion. So better hope that practical nuclear fusion gets perfected soon.

Im hopeful that it happens in my lifetime. Just as James Watt invented what could be considered the modern steam engine, which kicked off the industrial revolution. And how Rudolf Diesel invented a whole new kind of engine - his main motivation the poor efficiency of current known types. Someone will "solve" the fusion power issue. Taking it out of the lab, and into power stations and industry.

As lets face it - the world will not want to go back to living how it was 200 years ago.

Where are people going to shop when all the trucks are gone?

I also hope nobody likes electricity... I'm pretty sure power plants put out more bad stuff than my car driving to work and back. I Haven't driven for fun in years... Since I did it for a living.

The thing is we can save the world now if people weren't so greedy. EG stopping deforestation, using less fossil fuels for power plants etc. But until the environment actually fails, or something really catastrophic happens, we are heading to a major environmental problem which our reat grandchildren will be left with solving. Just think what they will think of us in 100years from now.

This. Cars are not the only contributors to CO2. I wonder how much emissions factories produce ... anyone have data on CO2 contribution

Where's the science behind the anecdotal analysis and fullstop recommendations for change?

The Winter before this one, here, was the coldest since move in. The last Summer was the coldest here since move in. The warmest driest Summer was two or three years ago, and each following has been colder than the last.

I welcome the end of below zero pipe freezing Winters and I can plant my citrus and subtropical orchard which won't get annihilated by frosts. But I feel cheated by these claims it is on it's way.

Something I have noticed here and in other groups with people who have just gotten their first electric vehicle. They are like born again evangelists evangelizing to anyone who will listen. Some of them seen to think putting a $2 / liter eco tax on motor fuel will solve everything. If you want people to buy EVs then they need to be available at the same price as the equivalent ICEV not in the BMW EV cost stratosphere...

This is the elephant in the room. The large rate of population growth has to be a major factor in climate change but there is no political appetite to do anything about it because no politician wants to tell young people that they can't have kids, nor do they want to accelerate the aging populations that we're seeing in western countries.
