Just found a fee (2 June) for US$12.99 - NZ$19.08 as monthly membership for Amazon Prime.

I don't remember signing up.

I made an Amazon purchase back in January...

Apparently I may have clicked on a 'trial' button which converts to full membership after 6 months.

I have ended membership now... If I haven't used the services since the fee started I will get a refund.

Here's hoping for a refund.

I did the same, clicked on a trial membership, then forgot about it. A couple of days after being charged the US$12.99 I cancelled the membership and, in the options provided, specified that it was to end straight away rather than at the end of the monthly period. I received a pro-rata credit quite quickly.

That button got me too, luckily I noticed immediately and managed to cancel the largely useless product for anyone outside of the USA.

It’s happened to me too, Amazon are very good at refunding quickly and without a fuss. Let them know and you’ll be fine.
