Heard a little whisper that the Customs de minimis will be going up to $1000 before GST and Custom charges are applied instead

of the usual $400 mark.

It is not set in concrete yet, but date for the change is around October 1st.

Will just have to wait and see if its true or not.

From 1 October it will be collected at point of sale for goods up to $1000.  For goods above $1000 its still collected at the border.

This has already been discussed extensively both on here and in the media when it was announced last year.

The good news is that it will mean for goods that were eligible for duty (meaning the de minimis was actually around $230) that you will now only pay 15% GST rather than GST and duty which actually mean people who import clothes and shoes regularly will find they're better off as a result of the changes.

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.
