(Post and hope)

Spotify app on android essentially stopped working with No internet connection comment.

I've got a samsung s9+ running the latest updates including november security update.

In a nutshell, the app seems unable to make either a wifi or cell internet connection. Been running seamlessly for last year or so but starting getting flakey and cutting out in car when playing over bluetooth over weekend.

But today nothing plays just giving no internet connection error despite good wifi and other apps working fine.

I tried resetting cache and data without improvement then uninstalled it and reinstalled over wifi but still get the same error.

I can enter my account details or rather google smart lock does and I can see my playlists are listed under my library but cant download anything or display the home screen.

As I have already reinstalled without improvement and factory resetting isn't an option, I expect I am stuffed.

Any ideas?

I hope this isn't a dumb question, but do you Offline mode switched on by any chance? Would not explain the flaky behaviour but worth a look?

Thanks for suggestions.
I'm not in offline mode.
I tried rebooting phone after uninstalling and reinstall from rebooted state.

Where is the permission screen referring to wifi network screen ?

Go to Apps, find Spotify and look for Data Usage.

The same issue happens sometimes for my S10+, I simply closed the app and went back into it and it worked, didn't need to reboot my phone at all.

Strange issue to have though.

Under apps the spotify usage their is an option for mobile data which is zero.

Doesn't list wifi option.

I have had the same issue. I suspect it's a bug in the android app. I resorted to uninstalling and reinstalling.

Along the same lines, do others have issues with using spotify with android auto? I frequently have very slow response or freezing.

Actually, I've gone back and re-read the OP. I'm calling issues with Android Auto...

Well killed android auto and spotify, rebooted, downloaded via working internet, and spotify despite listing my playlists complains of No internet connection..

I also tried using airplane mode then turning on wifi in case it was getting confused by cell sign and no improvement.

Urgghh - frustrating!

I'll keep a close eye on my app's performance to see what and when anything like this happens again.

Does it work on other devices like on a PC or another mobile device?

You're not on some crappy wifi that only allows port 80/443 and nothing else?  Some apps connect to random ports and hate those sort of "locked down" networks.

Most apps will work fine, but some will break.

Working fine at home via sonos. (I'm at work)

I can log into my account fine but haven't got the app on w8 laptop but since I know it's working at home I'm not fussed about installing it onto my laptop.

I'll try my denon amp and maybe android tv later but I think it's a phone issue as it was also flakey over weekend when I was in town. So not work wifi.
