I'm not sure how many of you are active Facebook users but this may relate to you.

I use Facebook to keep in touch with friends and relatives all over the world. It was the first 'social network' that I tried online and I liked it so I kept using it. However recently Mark Zuckerberg decided he would like to change the layout and no one would have a say in the matter. It's terrible. I don't think that's even strong enough to describe it. Facebook will die because of this change.

Websites come and websites go, I can accept this. However the stuff that's going on is quite stalinesque. I joined one of the groups deploring the layout change (there are many groups, some with over 2 million members and counting). The Facebook administrators have been deleting posts, topics, groups and members at whim. Anyone who speaks out against the layout change is silenced. Now I'm not sure how the rest of you feel about it, but to me this seems underhanded - certainly against the better practices of an international company of this size. Some comical instances now involve members posting information relating to the Better Business Bureau (an American business watchdog), censorship and email addresses for Facebook staff. Admins have been deleted these to see 12 more topics sprout with exactly the same information. Then groups get deleted and recreated by members. Then members get deleted only to rejoin and repost. It's like some sort of cyber war against Facebook.

Anyway, I just thought I'd post my experiences and remind anyone else who doesn't like it to perhaps join one of the groups or blog.

It was announced back few months and I actually prefer the new look as it is cleaner in terms of getting the personal information across and leaving all the cluttering applications module in another separate tab. It is actually more useful.

"Facebook will die because of this change."

Are you serious? FB isn't going anywhere because 1%, maybe 2% of their users are temporarily upset.

People hate change. But once they get used to it, they're fine.

In a years time if FB switched back to the old layout, just as many people would be complaining.

I'm with chiefie, I like the new layout.

Audiophiles are such twits! They buy such pointless stuff: Gold plated cables, $2000 power cords. Idiots.

+ 1 for the new layout. Humans hate change, is as simple as that, but we are learning creatures who will come to love it

+1 here as well. I'd chopped and changed between the old and new several times and in the end stuck with the new because I thought it was cleaner and had the tabs which are a cool feature.

One more for the new layout!  Its always the haters that make the problems!!

The new interface is 1000x better IMO! At last I can actually look at friends profiles to see what they've been up to without needing to  scroll past 15 pages of apps that I couldn't care less about (who really goes on facebook to catch up with the number of 'hatching eggs' there friends have?).

If you feel this strongly about it, and its that big a problem, you definitely have a case to demand your subscription/membership fees back from Facebook.

It's just not okay to blanketly do stuff like this to paying customers.

Let us know how the refund goes.

You have the option to use the old design and the new design, I prefer the new design, as it is cleaner and easier to use.

New designs often take time to get used to, once you get used to it you will find that it is actually better.

I love the way people join all these virtual groups to stand up for what they believe in. There's nothing quite like a number on a page to show the site admins what you think. :P

The reality is that, whether or not you like it, Facebook have moved to the new layout and they have no intention of moving back. If you don't like it, you're more than welcome to delete your account and move on to greener pastures.

Looks like JoeBloggs will have to invest in a Bebo membership...

Wow. Of literally hundreds of people I've spoken to now, you all have the first positive comments to say. It seems pretty unanimous too. Perhaps it has to do with the geographic? How old is everyone? Are you all from New Zealand? Would you consider yourselves to have a technical background with computers?

Perhaps the users who prefer the change are just less vocal?

Yip, proud Kiwi, even though not born here and yes with technical background also. With privacy, there are issues, but hey if you don't like it you don't have to use it. You read their T&C and all is swell if you understood it. You want the convenience etc .....

I think you will find that most Geekzone users are technologically inept and that would explain their apparent willingness to readily accept what is clearly a inferior new look.

Or and I'm just randomly throwing this out there... the new design is really good and makes your Facebook experience heaps better.

I'm with Tony on this one... apply for a refund if you don't like it!
