Well here we go again, more "fees" for nothing, trademe is just so expensive, it definitely makes me think twice before "having" to use them!

From 1 March 2020, the maximum success fee for a general item will be increasing from $149 to $249.

So, it's still 7.9%, just with a higher cap?

Either way, I think it's an absurd rate for all but the cheapest items.

A single listing fee should be the end of it. I'm sure a few popular listings might use slightly more than an infinitesimally small amount of resources, but paying hundreds of dollars for what is essentially just a database entry with a few pictures is ridiculous. For me, TradeMe is an absolute last resort.

Im giving up on TradeMe - they keep increasing fees and for that we lose the ability to list items. They now dont allow JAMMA boards to be sold (by themselves or in a machine) because they cant confirm the copyright. Using that mentality, DVDs etc will be next to be banned.

I've got an email from someone launching a new site for tech auctions only... Might post in the Off Topic for people to check.

I only buy off it and that is if I come across something I need. Anything I sell is either through here or facebook market place.

I moved over to facebook as soon as it launched.

Why would you pay for fees now. Pointless.

I think safety is the one reason that makes me never think of Facebook for anything involving money...

Safety and to be honest, the quality of punters I've found to be a bit hit and miss on FB. Obviously it depends on the item being sold and how much, but in general, I've found the quality to be worse.

I hate the FB market place, so many time wasters and low ballers, scammers I'm not worried about, they tend to stand out like a sore thumb.

As for Trade me.... I'll only sell if its a no success fee promo, other then that, nope

FB I gave up on. Listed item with location, got time wasters (no shows), and people in Whangarei and Rotorua saying theyd be round to collect it "in the morning".

I'm in Whangaparaoa.

Confirmed my suspicions that good chunk of people on FB Marketplace are bots or idiots.

I used to use Trade Me all the time. But I haven't done business there for years. I look in from time to time when I can't find something elsewhere, but I have never found what I wanted on Trade Me.

Some parts of Trademe feels like a ghost town with nobody buying or only trade listings. Many category segmentations don't make any sense.
